Description

The company is a European fintech that helps businesses get paid, manage money and grow, serving more than 250,000 companies. It has over 900 staff across more than 12 locations.

This role sits in the Developer Enablement domain, on the Observability team. You would improve monitoring across the platform so engineers can diagnose problems quickly, and help the company use the platform more effectively for customers.

The team is ambitious and high-performing, and it is looking for people who want to build what comes next in finance.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain observability tools and platforms that are scalable and high quality.
  • Work with engineering teams to bring observability into the development lifecycle, so systems become more transparent and reliable.
  • Lead the design and rollout of standard observability frameworks that give the organisation consistent, efficient practices.
  • Design, build and improve data pipelines that gather, combine and normalise telemetry from many sources.
  • Promote good instrumentation practices so the data collected is useful for monitoring and analysis.
  • Help build a complete service inventory that tracks changes and their impact to inform operational decisions.
  • Keep learning and share knowledge within the team to encourage new ideas and high standards in observability.

Requirements

  • A strong software engineering background, with a particular interest in observability and monitoring of distributed systems.
  • Experience with at least one major cloud provider.
  • Experience with tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog and Sentry, plus practices using Kubernetes, Helm, Docker and Terraform.
  • Comfortable working on Linux systems and in the shell.
  • Experience building or adopting libraries that integrate smoothly with observability tools.
  • Solid coding skills in languages used in our stack, such as PHP, Java, Python or Go.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a creative approach to hard problems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to influence others without formal authority while working in a hybrid setup.
  • Optional: prior experience with data analytics and data pipelines that turn observability data into insights.
