Network Engineer Expert

Description

The team supports the client's Operations One Network Program, which covers digital transformation, connectivity improvements, and cyber risk reduction.

The role sits in the Data Center and Cloud product line, which covers the client's data center and cloud network infrastructure: routers, switches, load balancers, internet access, the data center interconnection backbone, DWDM, and cloud environments on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Intercloud.

You will help design, build, evolve, and support data center and cloud network products that serve the program's goals.

Scope includes:

Set out secure, reliable, and sustainable network infrastructure solutions.

Propose designs that meet Group Security, CTO, and program requirements while supporting business and operational needs.

Help shape medium- and long-term product evolution and ongoing improvement work.

Carry out advisory work, assessments, solution design, secure builds, and integration for in-scope products.

Coordinate across functional teams, the client's IT services, strategic partners, and technology vendors.

Make sure delivered infrastructure meets quality of service targets.

Bring advanced technical expertise to the in-scope products and services.

Complete NSX-T and ACI configurations and support their deployment.

Support production data center rollouts and the move away from legacy environments.

Write technical documentation and knowledge transfer materials.

Handle Level 3 production support and complex troubleshooting.

Take part in data center network transformation projects.

Contribute to network automation with Terraform, Ansible, and Python, including POD automation.

Analyse business and technical requirements and propose designs that match business goals and technical strategy.

Recommend cost-effective technology choices that follow infrastructure standards and transformation goals.

Responsibilities

• Deliver data center deployments and transition work.
• Produce technical documentation and knowledge transfer materials.
• Resolve Level 3 incidents and deliver the related outputs.
• Build network automation deliverables with Terraform, Ansible, and Python.
• Contribute to data center network projects that support transformation goals.
• Assess quality of service and recommend improvements.
• Document business and technical requirements analysis.
• Recommend infrastructure architectures and solution designs.
• Suggest technology choices that fit business and technical strategy.

Requirements

• Experience with large-scale architecture, standardization, and transformation initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of NSX-T, ACI, and switch fabric technologies.
• Working knowledge of data center and cloud network technologies, and of network and cloud design patterns.
• Network automation skills in Terraform, Ansible, and Python.
• Understanding of security solutions and infrastructure best practices.
• Experience with load balancers, VPNs (Cisco and F5), and network security tools.
• Experience with firewalls from Check Point, Palo Alto, Cisco, and AlgoSec.
• Experience with web gateways (McAfee), SASE, segmentation, and identity services.
• Experience with voice, WiFi, SD-WAN, LAN, WAN, and MPLS.
• Skill in troubleshooting network infrastructure and providing Level 3 support.
• Ability to design infrastructure architecture and technical solutions.
• University degree in engineering, IT, telecommunications, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of network experience in international, matrix organizations.
• Proven experience with data center and cloud network infrastructure.
• Experience with infrastructure transformation and modernization.
• Up-to-date knowledge of network and infrastructure challenges, trends, and technical change.
• Established working relationships with major technology providers.
• Record of delivering high-quality technical outputs under tight planning constraints.
• Experience analysing both business and technical requirements.
• Experience recommending technology that fits business goals and technical strategy.
• Working fluently in English.
• Experience in global, multicultural delivery teams.
