Platform Engineer

Description

The team is looking for a senior DevOps engineer with deep on-premises infrastructure and networking skills, plus hands-on experience with a public cloud such as AWS, Azure or GCP.

You will help shape and run DevOps practices across on-prem and cloud systems, with a focus on high availability, security and scalability.

You work on your own initiative while keeping your work in line with the team's goals and the manager's direction.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and run on-prem infrastructure, covering servers, storage, virtualization and networking.
• Build and keep up CI/CD pipelines for applications running on-prem and in the cloud.
• Work with developers and operations staff to automate tasks and make systems more reliable.
• Watch system performance and troubleshoot problems in every environment.
• Check that infrastructure and deployments meet security policies and good practice.
• Write and update documentation covering infrastructure, processes and configurations.

Requirements

• Proven DevOps experience, with a strong on-prem focus.
• Solid grasp of networking, including firewalls, routing, VPNs and DNS.
• Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure or GCP and their basic services.
• Scripting and automation skills in Bash, Python or PowerShell.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet or Chef.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana or Nagios.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work without close supervision.
• Experience writing provisioning tools and scripts that automate deployment and configuration.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation or Pulumi.
• Ability to build modules and templates that can be reused for consistent provisioning.
