Technical Writer

Description

The company makes materials science and engineering equipment used in nearly every new semiconductor chip and advanced display worldwide, and its equipment supports AI and the commercialization of next-generation chips.

The Technical Publication team in Finland is hiring a Technical Writer to produce clear, concise procedures and manuals for customers and service teams.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, write and edit content for system manuals and operating instructions.
• Under general supervision, watch production, development and experimental work to pin down operating procedures and their details.
• Under general supervision, speak with production and engineering staff to learn product technologies and manufacturing methods, and work with engineering, Global Product Support (GPS) and Applied Global Services (AGS) to build and update documentation.
• Under general supervision, examine blueprints, sketches, drawings, part lists, specifications, mock-ups and product samples to capture the technology, operating steps, production sequence and details, and check that technical documents are reviewed on schedule.
• Under general supervision, review published material and propose changes to scope, format, content, methods, reproduction or binding.
• Push suppliers to deliver their documentation on time.

Requirements

• Skilled with technical publication tools: DITA XML editors such as Oxygen Editor or similar, the SDL Tridion Docs content management system, graphics software (Illustrator, Photoshop, Inkscape, Notepad++), Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, and MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Able to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Able to work across functions and handle several projects at once.
• Quick to learn, self-directed and meticulous, able to work with little supervision in a fast-moving high-tech setting.
• Works with teams in Europe, the USA and Asia.
• May be required to travel internationally, up to 20% of the time.
• Builds broader conceptual knowledge in your discipline and expands your skills.
• Solves problems in straightforward situations, weighing options against technical experience, judgment and precedent.
• Affects the quality of your own work and your teammates' work, working within guidelines and policies.
• Explains complex information to others in straightforward situations.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Full-time, regular employee position. Travel is 10% of the time. Not eligible for relocation.

Conditions

Pay is set from a range of €0,00 to €0,00, based on location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills and experience, and on fairness relative to current team members.

Based in Kirkkonummi, Finland.

For sales roles, the posted range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range, meaning base salary plus target bonus at 100% goal achievement.
