Description

The company builds both the hardware and the software for a multi-tenant military system, and many team members have worked on this program for over 15 years.

You can be based full-time in the Sterling, VA office or the Sarasota, FL office.

The role suits a self-starter who sets priorities, meets deadlines, and needs little supervision.

About two thirds of the job is independent work. The rest is spent with Systems Engineers and other team members, mostly located in Sarasota.

Working well with internal and external stakeholders is central to success.

You will handle a large volume of complex government documentation and regulatory compliance on tight timelines, respond to urgent short-notice tasks, and keep long-term deliverables moving.

The work supports customers' missions to keep the nation safe.

Responsibilities

  • Work with each project's Responsible Engineer to write the System Installation Standards technical volumes, pulling detailed information from engineering files in SharePoint and Confluence.
  • Talk with teams across the program, including Systems Engineering, Infrastructure and Security, to update the User Guide and governance documents such as the Configuration Management Plan and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Edit all programmatic submissions to the Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR) so they are concise, clear, grammatically correct and visually polished.
  • Make sure written products are well organized, clear and logically flowing, and hold customer-facing documents to the writing standard.
  • Serve as the program's subject matter expert on classification.
  • Mentor newer Project Managers on documentation practices and procedures that help them deliver successful projects.
  • Create graphics, tables and other visuals that highlight key programmatic information.
  • Copyedit every document the team produces, including documents from other teams outside your immediate area, since the team is matrixed.
  • Coordinate with the Test Engineer to finish sell-off paperwork.
  • Take an active part in the Integrated Product Team (IPT) for each tenant's system recap or new deployment, making sure the system is ready for customer-witnessed acceptance tests and deployment.
  • Keep the internal SharePoint documentation library current.
  • Manage access permissions for the various documentation sharing websites.

Requirements

  • Required:
  • Hold an active TS/SCI clearance and be able to pass a polygraph.
  • Have a four-year degree from an accredited college or university plus 6+ years of heavy writing experience with US military customers, or 8+ years in the Intelligence Community with heavy writing experience. A Master's degree can replace two (2) years of experience.
  • Communicate clearly in speech and writing, with flawless grammar and spelling.
  • Bring strong editing skills.
  • Show initiative in building your technical and soft skills.
  • Meet deadlines and work out on your own what needs to be done and by when.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced environment with occasional brief slow periods.
  • Have solid working knowledge of MS Office, especially Word and PowerPoint.
  • Desirable:
  • Visio, Excel, Teams, and basic Adobe Acrobat Pro skills.
  • Desired:
  • Experience with Atlassian project management tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Experience with Agile and SCRUM methodology.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and flow charts.
  • An eye for layout, design and color.
  • Experience with US government contracts and their constraints.
  • Familiarity with military logistics.
  • IT or networking experience.

Conditions

Full-time, regular position.

Minimum TS/SCI clearance required to start.

Up to 10% travel within the continental US.

Based full-time in the Sterling, VA or Sarasota, FL office.

Proposed salary range: $73,800-$155,100. Final pay depends on factors including geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and wage rates, relevant prior experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
