Description

The company builds advanced defense systems and is at an early stage, so the team is small and each person has real ownership over what they build and how it affects the company's direction.

You will work with a team of strong engineers on turning ambitious ideas into working capability, and your work will have a visible, measurable effect.

The role centres on scaling and automating the company's software development and test infrastructure, closing the gap between the engineering tools the team needs and the automated processes that cover the software lifecycle.

The work sits between software, hardware and infrastructure, which suits engineers with a DevOps, infrastructure or Site Reliability Engineering background who like working close to both software and hardware teams to smooth out complicated workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Build, run and improve CI pipelines so software can be developed and tested quickly and reliably
  • Connect CI workflows to hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and other automated test environments
  • Automate build, test, deployment and release steps
  • Design and run the development infrastructure that engineering teams depend on
  • Maintain and improve containerised environments built on Docker and Kubernetes
  • Support a mix of on-premise systems, lab environments and cloud services
  • Build and maintain tooling for embedded software, robotics and simulation work
  • Fold build systems, artifact management and test frameworks into automated pipelines
  • Work with software, simulation and hardware teams to clear blockers in engineering workflows
  • Raise the reliability, monitoring and observability of internal development platforms
  • Set up monitoring and telemetry, for example with Grafana
  • Find and fix problems in infrastructure, networking and performance
  • Apply secure development and infrastructure practices across the team
  • Handle access control, secrets management and system configuration in every environment

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field
  • At least 7 years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure engineering or Site Reliability Engineering
  • Strong skills running Linux systems
  • Working knowledge of Python, Bash or Shell scripting
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions
  • Hands-on work with Docker and Kubernetes for containers and orchestration
  • A solid grasp of Git and current software development workflows
  • Experience diagnosing infrastructure, networking and build system problems

Conditions

The role may require access to classified information or restricted U.S. Government sites, systems or information, as the company or applicable government requirements determine. If the role is designated that way, keeping the job depends on obtaining and maintaining the required U.S. Government security clearance or other authorization, and meeting any citizenship or other eligibility rules set by law, regulation, executive order or contract. You will be told if and when these requirements apply.

The role involves export-controlled information. Employment, or engaging a contractor, depends on your ability to access that information without additional export licences from the Bureau of Industry and Security or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.

The job description does not list every duty, and responsibilities may change at any time, with or without notice.

The company is an equal-opportunity employer.
