Description

The company is a healthcare and life sciences organization whose work is aimed at preventing, stopping and curing disease. You will join a team where people are welcome as themselves and where differences are respected.

The senior network engineer is the subject-matter expert who solves hard business problems with advanced technology in a specialized infrastructure area. You will lead difficult projects, make key technical calls, and design resilient solutions that span several domains. The role calls for strong problem solving, stakeholder management, and the ability to shape technical direction, vendor choices, and work that crosses organizational lines.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a solution architect: design, build, test and deploy integrated, resilient, reliable systems that work the first time across several solution areas.
  • Lead technical projects that need deep expertise, and own the technical decisions made during design, build and testing.
  • Lead the end-to-end design of infrastructure solutions and keep component standards current.
  • Judge complex problems carefully, weighing many variables and the effect on other organizations, and work with key stakeholders to reach answers.
  • Run proofs of concept and feasibility studies to test promising options, and support internal escalation for major incidents.
  • Explain complex technical options to cross-functional teams and business leaders in plain language.
  • Act as the main contact for initiatives and work with senior internal and external people.
  • Use your product knowledge to shape infrastructure vendor evaluations, and fold feedback from enterprise architects, solution owners and other IT partners into the work.
  • Lead small to mid-sized technical teams on medium-sized projects, lifecycle work and proofs of concept.
  • Make sure solutions meet quality and regulatory standards and follow the Technical Architecture Framework (TAF) policies and direction.
  • Help plan technology projects by estimating engineering effort, dependencies, risks and timelines.
  • Coordinate many moving parts and cross-boundary dependencies to deliver reliable infrastructure on medium to large initiatives.
  • Be a recognized expert in one area while keeping deep knowledge in at least two technology areas.
  • Understand how IT infrastructure affects the company's business processes in detail.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing and running modern data center network architectures, including spine-leaf topologies and large-scale L2/L3 fabrics.
  • Strong skill in EVPN-VXLAN data center virtualization, including BGP EVPN control plane design, multi-tenancy and scalable overlays.
  • Demonstrated experience carrying out complex network migrations, including brownfield-to-greenfield moves, with minimal downtime and solid rollback plans.
  • Deep understanding of change management in mission-critical environments, keeping systems highly available and stable during deployments.
  • Hands-on experience with Arista EOS: configuration, troubleshooting, automation and lifecycle management in production.
  • Experience with network automation and Infrastructure as Code using Arista AVD, GitHub and CI/CD pipelines to make deployments repeatable and reliable.
  • Familiarity with version-controlled network operations and automated testing and validation to keep environments consistent.
  • Strong troubleshooting across underlay and overlay networks, including BGP, routing convergence and fabric-level fault isolation.
  • Extensive expertise with in-depth knowledge in at least two IT infrastructure areas, such as compute and storage, network management or high performance computing.
  • Detailed understanding of business processes and how IT infrastructure affects them.
  • Proven experience applying IT operations best practices in always-up, always-available services using Scrum and Agile.
  • Deep understanding of Technical Architecture Frameworks (TAF) and quality and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making, with sound judgment in highly complex situations.
  • Strong stakeholder management, able to turn complex technical issues into plain terms for business leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence vendor product evaluations and recommend technical improvements.
