Senior Platform Engineer

Description

The platform team builds the infrastructure, backend systems and tooling that every engineering team in the company uses to ship software.

Engineers across all of the company's products will use what you build, so the work touches many systems.

You will write production code, run infrastructure and design the abstractions other engineers depend on daily.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate the platform on AWS.
• Maintain and extend the Terraform and tooling module library across AWS and GCP.
• Improve the path developers take to deploy, restart and inspect services using ArgoCD and GitHub Actions.
• Write services, controllers and tools in Go and Python, and in TypeScript where developer tools call for it.
• Improve observability with Datadog, along with reliability, security and cost.
• Diagnose production issues that cut across application code, Kubernetes, networking and cloud services.
• Grow the platform into an AI assisted SDLC platform for product engineers, both internal and external, using frontier labs and open-source models.
• Review code, shape architecture decisions and help set platform standards.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in software, backend, platform or infrastructure engineering.
• Strong production experience with Go, Python or JavaScript/TypeScript, and willingness to work across languages.
• Strong hands-on experience running production workloads on AWS and/or GCP.
• Experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code.
• Containers and Kubernetes in production at scale.
• Strong grasp of distributed systems, APIs, networking, concurrency, data consistency and failure modes.
• A track record of building platforms, libraries or core systems that other engineers rely on.
• Ability to diagnose complex production issues across applications, infrastructure and cloud services.
• Strong skills in code review and system design.
• Excellent written and verbal English.
• Experience building LLM platforms for AI assisted SDLC.
• Multi-account or multi-region AWS setups, workload identity and policy enforcement.
• Kubernetes cluster lifecycle management, with ArgoCD or other GitOps tooling.
• Kafka or other event-driven systems, plus PostgreSQL and Redis.
• Experience with Datadog, OpenTelemetry or other distributed tracing systems.
• Experience building CLIs, SDKs or internal developer platforms.
• High-volume transactional systems, or fintech and payments experience.
• Open-source contributions.

Conditions

Based in Madrid, working hybrid: 4 days in the office and 1 day from home.
