Cloud DevOps Infrastructure Engineer - Roche Cloud Platform AWS

The role is a DevOps infrastructure position in the cloud platform team. You work on projects that need DevOps and infrastructure skills and solve technical business problems on your own, asking for guidance when you need it.

Responsibilities

• Take part in the full life of platforms and services, from design and build through deployment, operation and retirement, with guidance where needed.
• Build and manage large-scale IT infrastructure using software engineering methods, and offer developers self-service tools and APIs that hide infrastructure complexity.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and add self-healing features.
• Solve problems that affect development, deployment and performance, using sound judgment in your decisions.
• Help IT infrastructure services meet and keep their agreed SLIs, SLOs and SLAs, in line with QA requirements.
• Monitor and resolve incidents, run incident response in a sustainable way, hold blameless postmortems, and contribute to Disaster Recovery plans.
• Work closely with developers, Managed Services suppliers and vendors to speed up development and improve service reliability, keeping the customer and delivery in view.
• Make sure solutions meet quality and regulatory standards and apply cost, compliance and security best practices.
• Contribute to audits, manage ITSM processes, and keep up with emerging technologies to tackle complex, cross-disciplinary problems.
• Work effectively with virtual team members in different locations and cultural backgrounds to reach project or product goals.

Requirements

• Show that you can research technical topics and pick up new tools quickly, with a clear drive to build depth in cloud and DevOps.
• Work well in a team, taking an active part in discussions and code reviews.
• Have a basic grasp of key AWS services such as EC2, S3, VPC and IAM, plus some general knowledge of multi-account setups and governance tools such as AWS Organizations and policies.
• Have hands-on experience building cloud applications with Terraform or CDK.
• Be familiar with GitLab or GitHub, SDLC practices and CI/CD.
• Have hands-on experience with scripting in Python or Bash and with testing frameworks such as Pytest.
• Be familiar with Agile methods, principles, processes and tools, including SAFe.
• Be open to using AI assistants for learning, code generation and debugging.
• Additional: familiarity with incident response, including helping adopt ITSM processes and running blameless postmortems.
• Additional: a proactive approach to troubleshooting and finding possible solutions.
