Responsibilities

  • Act as the Tier 3/4 escalation point for major network incidents, performance bottlenecks and post-incident root cause analyses.
  • Design, validate and test proofs of concept in lab environments to assess emerging network tools, protocols and vendor products.
  • Explain complex information, problems and possible fixes to project teams and other cross-functional groups, and present them when needed.
  • Build relationships with senior people inside and outside the company and represent the organization on assigned projects.
  • Advise internal and external stakeholders on technical questions.
  • Keep network diagrams, topology specifications and runbooks current so teams can run operations smoothly.
  • Make sure designs follow the organization's architecture strategy, policies, direction, quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Work effectively with diverse, distributed teams across locations and cultures to reach project and product goals.
  • Apply core networking theory deeply and broader technical principles across the technology area, while understanding the business needs of your projects and keeping general knowledge of related disciplines.

Requirements

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • You have over 3 years of experience as a network engineer.
  • You have supported, troubleshot and implemented large, complex data networks covering LAN, DCLAN, WAN and wireless.
  • You have experience with automated provisioning of network devices and infrastructure automation.
  • You have used infrastructure automation tools, infrastructure as code, scripting languages, and logging, monitoring and observability tools.
  • You understand best practices and IT operations for always-available services and have worked with Scrum and Agile methods.
  • You can evaluate new technologies through proofs of concept and judge whether they meet business needs.
  • You solve problems of larger scope with sound judgment and decision-making.
  • You communicate and present clearly to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • You can act as a technical consultant and build relationships with senior personnel.
  • Cisco CCNA/P certification is preferred.

Conditions
