Network Engineer

Description

You will help design, build, run and grow modern network infrastructure for the company's customers.

The role covers both day-to-day operations and infrastructure projects, across on-premises and cloud platforms, with the aim of keeping environments secure, dependable and able to scale.

You will work alongside the Infrastructure, Cloud and Security teams on network operations, complex fault diagnosis, infrastructure upgrades and digital transformation work. Depending on your background and interests, you may also get to work on cloud networking, automation and hybrid setups.

The company is a large European technology firm with more than 51,000 staff in nearly 30 countries, offering consulting, digital services and software development. The team you would join is Digital Platform Services (DPS), which serves the industrial, life sciences, public and finance sectors and manages core IT from front end to back end, so business platforms keep running and stay current.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain and evolve network infrastructure for customers.
• Support day-to-day network operations and infrastructure projects.
• Diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
• Contribute to infrastructure improvements that support business continuity and future growth.
• Build and support network solutions that keep environments secure, reliable and scalable across on-premises and cloud.
• Work with the Infrastructure, Cloud and Security teams.
• Take part in digital transformation initiatives.
• Where your experience allows, work on cloud networking, automation and hybrid infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 5 years of experience in networking, infrastructure, or network and security environments.
• A solid grasp of networking basics: TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP and VPNs.
• Hands-on experience with network products from vendors such as Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point or similar.
• Experience monitoring networks, troubleshooting faults and resolving incidents.
• An understanding of network security, including firewalls and segmentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• You can work on your own and as part of a team.
• You speak English fluently and either French or Dutch.
• You do not need to meet every qualification listed; meeting most of them is enough.
• Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and/or AWS.
• Preferred: Exposure to hybrid network architectures and cloud networking services.
• Preferred: Experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform or Python.
• Preferred: Knowledge of DevOps practices and tooling.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Zero Trust and modern security concepts.
• Preferred: Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Azure Network Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect, Fortinet NSE or equivalent.
• Preferred: Clear written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
