Senior Infrastructure & Cloud Architect

Description

The role leads the technical side of complex cloud and hybrid transformation programmes for enterprise clients, acting as the architecture authority who sets standards, patterns and technology roadmaps and advises IT leadership and CxOs on strategic choices.

You will guide multi-cloud adoption across AWS, Azure and GCP, design resilient and secure cloud-native platforms, support pre-sales and innovation work, and mentor junior and mid-level architects in your scope.

In Belgium and Luxembourg, the team works with public and private sector organisations on innovation, business performance and technology-driven outcomes. The role sits in the Intelligent Infrastructure Services practice, part of Digital Core Reinvention, which covers cloud architecture and migration, AI applied to infrastructure, managed services and digital workplace transformation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, definition and documentation of enterprise-grade cloud and hybrid architectures.
• Build and own cloud architecture strategy, governance standards and compliance frameworks.
• Drive cloud adoption and make the key architectural decisions for large, multi-workload enterprise transformations.
• Give solution architecture guidance and compare alternative architectural patterns.
• Set the multi-cloud strategy across AWS, Azure and GCP, including hybrid and edge computing.
• Architect PaaS platforms and containerised workloads at scale, and oversee their delivery.
• Define infrastructure as code patterns, CI/CD blueprints and DevSecOps automation standards.
• Model total cost of ownership and push for cost-optimised, FinOps-aligned designs.
• Serve as the subject matter expert and trusted technical adviser to client CxOs and IT leaders.
• Mentor junior and mid-level architects, run communities of practice and help build capability.
• Qualify opportunities, shape solutions and write proposals.
• Contribute to thought leadership, technical publications and practice innovation.

Requirements

• Fluent English and fluent French and/or Dutch.
• Comfortable working in an international, multicultural team.
• Deep multi-cloud architecture experience across AWS, Azure and GCP, including large-scale hybrid cloud deployments.
• Mastery of infrastructure as code with Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep or Pulumi, and of GitOps practices.
• Expert container orchestration skills: Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, GKE), Helm, and service meshes such as Istio or Linkerd.
• Advanced networking knowledge: SD-WAN, BGP, ExpressRoute/Direct Connect, Zero Trust Networking and SASE.
• Strong cloud security architecture skills covering IAM, encryption and compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR and NIS2.
• Experience defining enterprise CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices at scale.
• Ability to design high-availability, disaster recovery and business continuity architectures.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and engage with leaders at CxO level.
• Strong analytical skills for architecture trade-offs, cost modelling and risk assessment.
• Optional: experience with generative AI and LLM infrastructure, such as GPU clusters, vector databases and inference optimisation.
• Optional: familiarity with platform engineering, developer portals such as Backstage, and Internal Developer Platforms.
• Optional: experience with FinOps tooling and cloud cost governance in managed services settings.
• Optional: knowledge of legacy infrastructure or mainframe modernisation patterns.
• Optional: consulting background in managed services or systems integration.
• Optional: exposure to edge computing, industrial IoT or 5G infrastructure architectures.
• Optional certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), Google Professional Cloud Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), HashiCorp Terraform Associate or Professional, and TOGAF 9/10 or an equivalent enterprise architecture certification.
• Citizenship of a NATO member country is required.
• Eligibility to work in Belgium is required.
