Infrastructure Engineer Intern

Description

The company is a multi-billion dollar alternative investment firm with over 22 years of experience running relative value strategies in fixed income markets for institutional investors. Its offices are in Wayzata, New York City, West Palm Beach, Geneva, Zug, Copenhagen, Singapore and Scottsdale.

The infrastructure team in Wayzata is looking for an intern to start in summer 2027. The role gives hands-on work with enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms and mission-critical systems at a global hedge fund.

Responsibilities

• Help with Infrastructure as Code work using Terraform, OpenTofu and CloudFormation.
• Support cloud projects on AWS and Azure.
• Work alongside senior staff and managed service providers on on-premise servers.
• Help monitor and alert on trading systems so they stay available.
• Contribute to backup, disaster recovery and infrastructure documentation.
• Support physical infrastructure, including audiovisual systems and access control.
• Help with front-office and enterprise infrastructure initiatives.
• Possible projects include moving workloads to AWS, separating Active Directory domains and moving endpoints from SCCM to Intune, improving new-user onboarding (accounts, device setup and documentation), automating repeatable tasks with scripts and workflows, and network segmentation.

Requirements

• Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's programme in computer science, information technology, engineering or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of AWS and/or Azure, or a strong wish to learn them.
• Working knowledge of at least one scripting or programming language such as Python or PowerShell.
• Interest in infrastructure automation, DevOps and cloud technology.
• Basic understanding of networking and operating systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and careful attention to detail.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving team where deadlines are tight.

Conditions

Based in the Wayzata office.

Hourly pay of $40 USD.

Pay within the range depends on work location and factors such as job-related skills, experience and relevant education.
