Engineering Manager / Tech Lead – Industry AI, Autonomous Asset Management (f/m/d)

The company combines advanced artificial intelligence with deep industry knowledge to reshape core business processes in Industry AI.

You would help build and lead a new engineering team in Munich that works on Industry AI for Autonomous Asset Management.

The team builds and owns reusable Industry AI templates and engineering assets so industrial customers can develop, deploy and scale intelligent solutions more efficiently.

The role mixes technical leadership with people management, so you stay close to architecture, code and problem solving while you grow a high-performing team.

Skills used in the role include agentic AI day-to-day practice, AI adoption, AI output quality assurance, context engineering, AI-assisted automation and prototyping, learning agility, collaboration, complex problem solving, creative thinking, effective communication, agentic engineering, agentic orchestration, AI-assisted engineering, cloud architecture and semantic retrieval.

Responsibilities

• Write and review code, build prototypes and shape architecture alongside the team.
• Lead the end-to-end development and evolution of reusable Industry AI templates for Autonomous Asset Management, keeping them high quality, scalable, extensible and maintainable.
• Design modular AI components such as agents, reusable workflows, connectors and other building blocks that speed up industry-specific solutions.
• Turn successful AI use cases and customer-specific builds into standard, configurable capabilities that other customers can adopt.
• Explore agentic AI, generative AI, knowledge representation and intelligent automation to tackle hard industrial problems.
• Set up sound engineering practices for development, testing, integration, deployment and ongoing lifecycle management.
• Recruit, mentor and develop engineers, building a culture of technical excellence, innovation, ownership and continuous learning.
• Work with product management, industry experts, FDE delivery teams and other engineering teams to turn business needs and new technology into scalable enterprise solutions.

Requirements

• Solid hands-on software engineering experience, including delivering complex, production-grade software.
• A background in leading technically, designing architecture or managing engineers, plus the ability to coach and grow people.
• Strong programming skills and a readiness to go deep into code, prototypes and architecture reviews while letting teams own implementation.
• Ability to spot common patterns across customer use cases and turn them into reusable technical capabilities.
• Practical experience building AI-powered applications, ideally with generative AI and agentic AI frameworks.
• Good grasp of modern architecture, cloud-native development, APIs, distributed systems and engineering best practice.
• Experience designing reusable components, frameworks or platforms with a focus on modularity, extensibility and maintainability.
• Ability to balance fast innovation with engineering rigor and long-term software quality.
• A builder mindset, sound technical judgment and interest in bringing new technology into real enterprise applications.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with fluent English.
• Advantage: AI agent orchestration, knowledge graphs, ontologies, retrieval-augmented generation or decision intelligence.
• Advantage: industrial asset management, optimization, industrial IoT or asset-intensive industries.
• Advantage: enterprise software development, SAP technologies or enterprise integration.
• Advantage: experience building reusable technology assets and scaling solutions across multiple customers.
