Description

At Stark, we forge the future of European and national security through cutting-edge, AI-driven technology and unmatched engineering precision. As a premier defence technology company, our mission is clear: to equip NATO Allies and their partners with next-generation autonomous defence platforms and advanced AI-driven software built to perform in the world’s most demanding environments.

We believe that true security stems from relentless innovation. By combining elite engineering talent with agile technology and an AI-native operational culture, Stark turns complex defence challenges into field-tested, multi-domain solutions.

Minerva is STARK's command and control software — the brain that connects operators to autonomous systems across multiple domains in real time. The Minerva team is a small, senior software group based in Berlin and Munich, working directly with our systems and hardware teams to build mission-critical C2 capabilities deployed in active operational environments. We move fast, ship real software, and operate under constraints most engineers never encounter — low-bandwidth networks, air-gapped devices, high-stakes decision loops. There is no room for abstraction for its own sake. Everything we build ends up in the hands of real operators in the field.

YOUR MISSION

We are looking for a versatile Software Engineer specializing in embedded systems and low-level communication services. In this role, you will drive the development of a mission-critical deployment tool and hardware communication services for specialized operating systems. While being familiar with CI/CD pipelines, your primary focus will be on software development for mission-critical procedures, utilization of agentic AI and Typescript environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Developer for our mission-critical preparation tool: Maintain and evolve the tool built in Typescript.
  • Serve as the main technical point of contact and support lead for internal teams and customer requirements.
  • Utilize Agentic AI: As an AI focused company we encourage our employees to leverage our state-of-art AI development infrastructure.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Management: Work with our automated GitLab CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, packaging, and deploying GCS software components.
  • Develop, deploy, and troubleshoot software solutions running on Linux-based systems, particularly Ubuntu.
  • API & Interface Integration: Develop and maintain APIs and software interfaces to integrate radios, networking equipment, hardware components, and external systems.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with hardware, network, systems engineering, and GCS integration teams to translate technical requirements into practical software solutions.
  • WHAT YOU BRING TO THE MISSION
  • 3+ years of professional experience in software development, software integration, or a related technical field.
  • Core Languages: Proficiency in Typescript or Python.
  • Tooling & Support: Proven track record in maintaining production-critical tools and providing tier-2/3 technical support.
  • CI/CD Expertise: Practical experience with GitLab CI/CD, Git-based workflows, automated builds, testing pipelines, and software deployment processes.
  • API Development: Experience developing and integrating REST APIs, HTTP/HTTPS interfaces, and network-based software services.
  • Networking Fundamentals: Good understanding of TCP/IP, UDP, network protocols, authentication, and communication interfaces.
  • Software Engineering: Solid understanding of software architecture, version control, dependency management, automated testing, and release management.
  • Eligibility to obtain a German / NATO security clearance (EU / NATO citizenship required by national security regulations).

Requirements

  • Experience with NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi, or similar ARM64 SBCs.
  • Awareness of ROS 2 (colcon, ament, uXRCE-DDS).
  • Experience with GCP (Artifact Registry, Cloud Build, GCE instances).
  • Base knowledge of C++.
  • If you're interested in building the future of European Defence with us, and you see yourself reflected on the description above, please send us your CV in English . We're looking forward to meeting you!
  • SECURITY CLEARANCE
  • Due to the nature of our work in the defence sector, candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance required for this position. Details will be provided during the recruitment process.

Benefits

  • The software and systems you work on directly protect personnel and defend European and national sovereignty.
  • You will work alongside industry-leading minds on autonomous systems, advanced propulsion, and secure cyber platforms.
  • We foster a fast-paced, collaborative environment where bold ideas are supported by serious R&D backing.
