Engineering Manager, Business Technology (m/f/d)

Description

You will lead the strategy, design, delivery and operational quality of integration, automation and platform programmes across ERP, Billing, Revenue, CRM and HRIS systems. The role combines technical leadership with people management and calls for deep knowledge of enterprise systems, data flows, platform modernisation, migrations and large-scale delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of integration and automation solutions across ERP, Billing, Revenue, CRM, HRIS and related platforms.
• Set integration patterns, system interfaces, API strategy, data flows and engineering standards for enterprise applications.
• Take an AI-first approach to find where automation, efficiency, insight and engineering productivity can improve, using AI where it fits.
• Make sure AI-enabled solutions are built responsibly, with governance, security, explainability and clear links to business goals.
• Lead system migrations, covering transition planning, cutover, dependency mapping, risk management and business continuity.
• Own data archival and retention, balancing compliance, accessibility, cost efficiency and operational integrity.
• Lead system decommissioning, including impact assessment, transition planning, preservation of historical data and retirement of legacy capabilities.
• Oversee data pipelines that move, transform and make business-critical data available across systems.
• Keep enterprise data trusted, well structured and easy to access for reporting and decision-making.
• Run end-to-end delivery of integration and platform programmes, covering planning, prioritisation, dependencies, issue resolution and oversight.
• Define and enforce deployment, release and rollback plans so production changes are safe, disruption is minimal and recovery is fast.
• Lead engineers through technical direction, coaching, mentoring and performance management.
• Work with business and technology stakeholders to turn complex requirements into practical, scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Set best practice for documentation, monitoring, support readiness, operational governance and continuous improvement.
• Keep solutions secure, reliable and maintainable, in line with enterprise standards and business objectives.

Requirements

• 10+ years in software engineering, enterprise systems, integrations or business systems technology.
• Significant engineering management experience, including owning team leadership, delivery, stakeholder alignment and technical direction.
• Hands-on experience designing, troubleshooting and supporting Billing, Revenue, CRM, ERP, HRIS and similar enterprise platforms.
• Broad database skills: enterprise data modelling, transactional and analytical structures, storage, performance tuning and data lifecycle management.
• Strong scripting and automation skills for integrations, operational processes, batch workloads and platform support.
• Experience with reporting, analytics and how enterprise data is consumed, delivering trusted data for operations and business insight.
• Deep knowledge of integration patterns, APIs, middleware, event-driven and service-based architectures and enterprise automation frameworks.
• Proven delivery and support of real-time and batch integrations in varied enterprise environments.
• Experience with data pipelines, transformation, orchestration and system-to-system synchronisation.
• Solid grasp of software design principles and the ability to design systems at conceptual and detailed levels.
• Experience with modern API stacks, including web services, service contracts, payload formats, authentication and integration standards.
• Experience with system migrations, production releases, deployment planning, rollback strategies and operational readiness.
• Stakeholder management skills to influence, negotiate and align technology work with business priorities.
• Ability to work well with technical experts across enterprise, digital and business platforms.
• Proactive, detail-oriented and with a strong sense of ownership.
