Description

The company develops autonomous defence platforms and advanced AI-driven software for NATO Allies and their partners, built to run in demanding operating environments.

The Operational Platform & Architecture team designs and maintains the core software foundation for the company's multi-domain defence platforms, connecting mission software with real-time operational reliability.

The role drives the design, build and ongoing evolution of the company's core operational platforms, delivering scalable, secure and resilient systems that meet the strict demands of defence and autonomous operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach the Operational Platform & Architecture engineering team across architecture design, software development and systems integration.
  • Set and carry out the technical roadmap for the core operational platform architecture.
  • Create architectural patterns, coding guidelines and sound engineering processes that keep systems performant, maintainable and compliant with safety requirements.
  • Work closely with product managers, hardware engineers and defence domain experts to turn operational needs into technical specifications.
  • Improve system performance, secure communication protocols and the edge deployment strategy for autonomous software stacks.
  • Build a team culture that values technical rigour, quick iteration and ongoing learning.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading software architecture or platform engineering teams on complex software.
  • Strong skills in C++, Rust, or modern Java or Python, with deep knowledge of distributed systems and platform infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated expertise in system software design, API architecture, networking protocols and embedded or edge deployment.
  • A degree in computer science, software engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Fluent English with strong technical communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Prior experience in defence technology, aerospace, robotics or high-reliability autonomous systems.
  • Familiarity with NATO standards, cybersecurity compliance or safety-critical software engineering.
  • Knowledge of containerisation, real-time operating systems (RTOS) or edge AI platforms.

Conditions

You must be eligible to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for this position, given the defence nature of the work. Details will be shared during the recruitment process.

Benefits

  • The software and systems you build directly protect personnel and support European and national sovereignty.
  • You will work with leading specialists on autonomous systems, advanced propulsion and secure cyber platforms.
  • The company backs its engineers with substantial research and development funding, and supports bold ideas in a collaborative setting.
