Description

You will own the roadmap for the company's commercial IT landscape: CRM, customer portal, e-commerce, CPQ, marketing automation, customer data, analytics, and the integrations that link these with ERP, finance, service and data platforms.

You sit between business stakeholders and IT delivery teams, turning business goals into roadmaps, capability increments, user stories, solution requirements and measurable outcomes.

Areas covered: CRM (HubSpot CRM) for sales pipeline, customer data, activities, accounts and contacts. Customer portal for self-service, account and partner or customer access, order visibility, subscriptions and service interactions. E-commerce for B2B ordering, catalogue and pricing interfaces, digital sales channels, the buying journey and product and pricing integration, including convergent charging. CPQ for configure-price-quote, quoting workflows, proposal support, quote accuracy, commercial approvals and sales productivity. Marketing automation for campaign tools, lead capture, nurturing, segmentation, lead quality and handover to sales. Commercial data and analytics for dashboards, reporting, master data, data quality, KPIs, adoption and process performance.

The company makes intrusion detection systems, including sensors, control panels and software, and recently completed a brand transition. Its US sales and marketing headquarters is in Fairport, NY, which is also the main site for research, development, engineering, quality and product management for these systems.

Responsibilities

  • Set and maintain the strategy and roadmap for the commercial application portfolio.
  • Turn commercial goals into platform capabilities, releases and outcomes you can measure.
  • Rank roadmap work by business value, customer impact, risk reduction, technical debt and available capacity.

  • Track commercial technology needs against company transformation priorities over the longer term.
  • Own the backlog for CRM, the customer portal, e-commerce, CPQ and related commercial platforms.
  • Convert business needs into epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria and functional specifications that teams can test.
  • Get backlog items ready for delivery teams, with clear, testable and prioritized requirements.
  • Take part in sprint planning, refinement, reviews and release planning.
  • Weigh urgent business requests against a sustainable architecture and long-term maintainability.
  • Lead improvement of the lead-to-opportunity, opportunity-to-quote, quote-to-order, order-to-cash and subscription-to-cash processes.
  • Spot bottlenecks, manual workarounds, data quality problems and opportunities for AI automation.
  • Standardize processes where practical, while allowing justified differences between business units.
  • Raise user adoption, sales productivity, customer experience and operational scalability.
  • Document process changes and carry them into training, support and governance.
  • Be a trusted IT partner to sales, marketing, customer service, finance, operations and digital commerce.
  • Run workshops, discovery sessions, requirements gathering and solution validation meetings.
  • Assess business requests fairly and shape them into scalable, reusable, value-led solutions.
  • Explain roadmap priorities, delivery status, risks and decisions clearly.
  • Align expectations across business units, countries and functional teams.
  • Coordinate external implementation partners, development teams and L2/L3 support providers.
  • Track vendor delivery against agreed scope, quality, timelines and cost.
  • Review solution proposals for fit with architecture, security, integration and support standards.
  • Resolve escalations, delivery risks and dependency conflicts with the stakeholders involved.
  • Help with vendor selection, contract scope and performance reviews where needed.
  • Work with Enterprise Architecture and Integration teams toward an API-first, scalable commercial landscape.
  • Make sure CRM, portal, e-commerce and other commercial apps integrate well with ERP, finance, service and data platforms.
  • Support governance of customer master data, covering ownership, quality and lifecycle.
  • Make sure solutions meet enterprise standards for security, access control, privacy and supportability.
  • Cut unnecessary customization and favor reusable, maintainable, well-documented capabilities.
  • Make sure commercial apps meet GDPR, cybersecurity, audit and internal IT governance rules.
  • Support access reviews, data protection and role-based authorization models.
  • Keep documentation current for key processes, integrations, data flows and decision records.
  • Find and address risks to business continuity, vendor dependency, data quality and scalability.
  • Contribute to application rationalization, lifecycle management and cost optimization.
