Description

The company works on federal government missions for defense, national security, public safety, civilian agencies, and military health organizations, with more than 13,000 people.

The team wants an experienced cloud engineer with hands-on depth across multiple clouds and a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform. You will build cloud infrastructure and also design it at an architect level, including scalable patterns, automated deployment frameworks, and enterprise AI workloads across several security domains and compliance boundaries.

Most of the work involves custom software deployments, Docker-based workloads, Cloud Run, and later GKE. Infrastructure must be automated, secure, and compliant, and built with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines rather than through the console.

You are a self-driven, curious practitioner who explores new services on your own and uses AI tools to speed up learning and design.

The role covers deployments on Unclassified and Classified fabrics and requires strict adherence to FedRAMP, Zero Trust, and cross-domain solution (CDS) requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provision and configure cloud resources, mainly on GCP (Cloud Run, Vertex AI, Artifact Registry, Secret Manager, IAM).
  • Design scalable patterns for containerized workloads, starting with Cloud Run and moving to GKE as needed.
  • Deploy and manage Docker-based applications on GCP and AWS GovCloud.
  • Host AI workloads using Vertex AI on GCP and Bedrock on AWS in secure, multi-domain environments.
  • Build all infrastructure with Terraform, preferably using modular patterns, and keep automation as the default.
  • Write scripts that support deployment, automation, and day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions and Cloud Build so deployments are reproducible across every security fabric.
  • Apply GitOps and DevOps practices, and avoid console-based configuration.
  • Build and maintain cloud architectures that span Unclassified and Classified environments with strict security boundaries.
  • Implement and troubleshoot cross-domain solutions, secure data transfer patterns, and enclave-specific configurations.
  • Make sure each security domain aligns with Zero Trust.
  • Support FedRAMP compliance and ATO activities for multi-domain deployments.
  • Design enterprise-grade patterns that scale past prototypes, including multi-tenant environments, reusable modules, network segmentation, and standard deployment frameworks.
  • Configure VPC networking, IAM policies, access controls, and segmentation across multiple clouds and domains.
  • Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting to keep the platform reliable, secure, and performant.
  • Support migrations that move on-prem systems into multi-cloud architectures that host AI workloads.
  • Work closely with cloud solution architects, DevOps engineers, data engineers, and AI developers.
  • Learn new cloud services on your own initiative and judge which ones fit the architectural and business goals.
  • Use AI tools to speed up learning, analysis, troubleshooting, and ideation.
  • Document architectures, configurations, runbooks, operating procedures, and cross-domain designs.

Requirements

  • Have at least 5 years of hands-on cloud engineering experience.
  • Have strong delivery experience on GCP and working knowledge of AWS GovCloud.
  • Have deep experience deploying Docker-based custom software at scale.
  • Have strong Terraform engineering skills.
  • Think CI/CD first and be comfortable designing end-to-end DevOps patterns.
  • Be comfortable working in secure, regulated, and cross-domain environments.
  • Hold an active Top Secret clearance with CI poly.
