Description

The company is a technology firm that serves the US federal government, with over 13,000 people working toward better missions and a safer, stronger nation.

Clients include defense, national security, public safety, civilian, and military health organizations.

The team maintains an established platform application and also builds pilot solutions and custom MVPs for new requirements.

It is a small team with significant delivery expectations, so self-direction matters.

Familiarity with intelligence community environments and DoW mission systems is valuable, but the platform hides much of the domain detail, and curiosity about the problem space and comfort with unfamiliar domains count for more.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver complete applications, from database schema through the API layer to the user interface.
  • Extend a Django-based API gateway, build React dashboards for operational workflows, and write migration scripts that move legacy data into a modern PostgreSQL schema.
  • Set up Keycloak authentication for new services.
  • Deploy work across multiple AWS partitions and classification levels, using Terraform for infrastructure and GitLab for source control and CI/CD.
  • Use AI-assisted development tooling as a daily expectation in your workflow.
  • Take ownership of your code and commitments, communicate clearly, ask questions early, and raise concerns when something looks wrong.
  • Write clean, well-tested, well-documented code, and be meticulous about edge cases in auth flows and IAM policy scope, since classified environments carry real consequences.

Requirements

  • You have 5 years of experience as a full stack developer, or equivalent experience, across some combination of the areas below.
  • Backend work in Python with Django, FastAPI, or similar, including async/ASGI and Python 3.12 or later.
  • Production frontend work with React, Next.js, Vue.js, or similar.
  • RESTful API design, including BFF patterns and schema validation.
  • PostgreSQL: schema design, query tuning, migrations, and data loading.
  • AWS deployment and operation of applications across classified partitions and regions.
  • Terraform for infrastructure as code.
  • Integration of Keycloak, OIDC, SAML, or CAC/PIV authentication.
  • Secure development for STIG-hardened, FIPS-validated environments.
  • GitLab CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows.
  • Interpreting and fixing findings from SAST, DAST, SCA, SBOM, and container scans.
  • Daily use of AI-assisted development tools.
  • Adding generative AI features to applications, such as RAG pipelines, LLM integration, or embedding-based search.
  • Moving legacy systems and data sources into modern cloud-native architectures.
  • Kubernetes/EKS and Helm for container orchestration.
  • Hardened container supply chains and FIPS-validated image pipelines.
  • Applying NIST 800-53 controls to software design.
  • Designing multi-classification or cross-partition deployments.
  • Familiarity with intelligence community environments is valuable.
