The Technology team in West Hartford, CT is hiring a Systems Engineer to support the company's Connecticut news and media operations.

You will implement and support technology and users in an environment that is mission critical and combines media production with enterprise IT.

The company is a media and entertainment group with film, television, streaming, theme park, and news brands. It is a subsidiary of a larger corporation.

Responsibilities

• Gather requirements, then plan and build technical and workflow solutions for the News, Production, and Creative Services teams.
• Administer media production applications, systems, and infrastructure so they stay reliable.
• Write and maintain system documentation used for operations and troubleshooting.
• Provide technical support, respond to incidents, and keep users informed.
• Keep systems compliant with the company's cyber security policies and standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Basic: At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Basic: A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, radio, television and film, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Basic: Unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
• Basic: Covered by Solutions, the company's alternative dispute resolution program.
• Basic: At least 18 years old.
• Basic: Able to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Basic: A valid driver's license.
• Desired: Experience supporting mid to major market news or live event production, and 24x7 mission critical facilities.
• Desired: Expertise planning, building, and supporting media technology, including SDI and NDI video, contribution and distribution encoding, live production, news gathering tools, NRCS, NLE, media asset management, and transmission systems.
• Desired: Expertise in core IT, including physical, virtualized, and cloud compute and storage, networking, and domain and identity management.
• Desired: A track record of leading complex projects that leave stakeholders satisfied.
• Desired: Proficiency with IT routers, switches, firewalls, and port management applications.
• Desired: Proficiency in A/V file transcoding, data archiving, and video compression technologies and standards.
• Desired: Hands-on experience supporting non-linear editing systems such as Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Desired: Knowledge of media over managed IP networks and protocols, and of hardware virtualization.
• Desired: Knowledge of media workflow and production systems such as Vantage, Dalet, Ross Overdrive, or similar, plus distribution and newsgathering and communications systems.
• Desired: Strong ability to read and create system documentation in Visio and ACAD.
• Desired: Experience setting up, testing, and documenting proof-of-concept systems.
• Desired: Knowledge of standard engineering processes, such as change control and agile development.

Conditions

This is a full-time, on-site role at a company-designated worksite in West Hartford, CT.

You must be able to work any shift, 24/7.

You must be willing to travel and work outside standard hours, including weekends, with short notice.
