Description

This Systems Engineer role is a full-time, regular position in the Engineering category, requiring TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

You will help shape complex hardware and software systems, guiding their design, build and integration toward demanding performance, reliability and compliance goals.

The company supports government customers' missions and describes its culture as built on integrity and trust, with a focus on continued growth for staff.

The role suits someone who takes ownership of their work and wants results they can measure.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate cross-discipline work and turn strategic goals into executable engineering plans.
  • Own system requirements and derived requirements so they fit the defined architectures, such as DoDAF and SOA.
  • Design solutions that satisfy requirements and support functional analysis.
  • Help write systems engineering documents, such as system engineering plans, initial capabilities documents, requirement specifications and interface control documents.
  • Help develop system and functional requirements from stakeholder needs and use cases.
  • Give technical direction for developing, engineering, interfacing, integrating and testing complex hardware and software, covering requirements analysis, architecture and end-to-end flow analysis.
  • Keep system baselines sound through change control, requirements traceability and verification across the lifecycle.
  • Identify, assess and reduce risks in system development, following the risk plans and stakeholder requirements.
  • Resolve action items from CCB meetings and from design, program and test reviews that need cross-discipline work.
  • Take part in ERBs, flagging configuration management impacts and helping resolve engineering problems.
  • Join IPTs to design new capabilities with development and operations in mind.
  • Support planning, test analysis and approval of system definitions for Government authorization.
  • Explain engineering concepts, progress, risks and mitigations to executive leadership so they can make decisions.

Requirements

  • Required: Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in systems engineering, computer science, information systems, engineering science, engineering management or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Required: At least 14 years of hands-on software development on programs of similar scope, type and complexity. 5 years of extra systems engineering experience can replace the bachelor's degree.
  • Required: Solid grounding in system architectures and frameworks.
  • Required: Track record of writing technical documentation.
  • Required: Ability to design and build system solutions for complex requirements.
  • Required: Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and resolving technical issues.
  • Required: Skill in risk management and meeting industry standards.
  • Required: Strong communication, including explaining technical ideas to non-technical audiences.
  • Required: Experience keeping system integrity and supporting certification and accreditation.
  • Required: Familiarity with the systems engineering lifecycle: requirements, design, development, integration, testing and deployment.
  • Required: Scripting in Python, PowerShell or Bash to automate analysis, integration and testing.
  • Required: Experience with Jira or similar work tracking tools.
  • Required: Git version control and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub or GitLab for automated build, test and verification.
  • Required: Containers and orchestration such as Docker and Kubernetes to package tools, reproduce environments and support integration and testing.
  • Required: US citizen holding an active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Preferred: Certifications preferred but not required in Agile delivery (CSM, PSD, PMI-ACP) and security (CompTIA Security+, SSCP, CSSLP).
  • Preferred: Experience applying security and compliance frameworks such as ISO/IEC and NIST, mapping controls to requirements, architectures, interfaces and verification methods.
  • Preferred: Background in FISINT, SIGINT, ELINT or MASINT.
