Platform Engineer/Architect Senior

Description

The company is a fast-growing contractor that supports the DoD and other intelligence agencies around the world, building mission-critical national security systems.

This senior role covers advanced platform engineering, Tier 3 technical support and infrastructure modernization for the DFAS Common Computing Environment (CCE). The work centres on deploying and running enterprise technologies, resolving complex system faults, producing technical designs and keeping infrastructure reliable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver senior platform engineering support for the CCE infrastructure.
• Work the highest-priority Tier 3 DFASNow support tickets for the CCE.
• Help bring new hardware and software into the CCE environment.
• Test, configure and install new technologies properly, and make sure they do not conflict with what is already running.
• Produce briefings, studies, project estimates and cost-benefit analyses.
• Write detailed design documentation for critical design reviews.
• Help monitor CCE infrastructure and keep services running.
• Keep the engineering network configuration documentation current.
• Work with government team members to plan coverage and balance workload.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of enterprise systems engineering experience.
• Strong Windows Server administration skills, backed by AZ-801 and AZ-802 certification.
• Security+ certification, showing baseline security knowledge.
• Experience with enterprise virtualization platforms.
• Hands-on skill with MECM, SCOM and the wider Microsoft System Center suite.
• Experience with Active Directory directory services.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft and Linux server administration.
• Experience writing technical documentation and design specifications.
• Familiarity with DoD change control processes.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology or a related field.
• Preferred, not required: CISSP (as a step up from Security+), Azure administrator certification, VMware VCP certification, experience with DFAS or other DoD financial systems, prior DoD infrastructure engineering work, knowledge of DISA STIGs, and experience with containerization technologies.
• CompTIA Security+ or an equivalent DoD-approved IAT Level II certification is needed.

Conditions

An active Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required, and U.S. citizenship is required to be considered.
