Staff Software Developer

The company is a next-generation global media and entertainment company made up of three segments: Studios, Direct-to-Consumer, and TV Media.

Storytelling sits at the center of the company's work. This role is on the digital commerce team, which builds customer-facing products.

The team moves quickly, thinks boldly and works together toward results.

This is a staff-level role.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test and deploy web applications, applying a thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle.
• Build a customer-facing product along with the testing artifacts that support it.
• Develop internal tooling.
• Explain your reasoning and decisions to the team through design diagrams and review meetings.
• Learn new technologies and concepts on the job, applying best practices and operational excellence.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience, with most of it spent on application development.
• 10+ years working with JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Express, and React, Vue or Angular, plus working knowledge of Postgres, Elasticsearch and Redis.
• A proven record of mentoring peers and giving technical guidance on these technologies.
• Expert-level skill with modern engineering tools such as Fastly, AWS, Serverless/SAM, CloudFormation, Docker, Jenkins and Git.
• Deep experience with modern development technologies, hands-on work on both client and server sides, and a solid grasp of common data structures and algorithms.
• Past work on medium to large-scale, mission-critical, high-availability production systems that support essential business, technical or operational functions.
• Strong design skills and the ability to explain difficult technical ideas clearly.
• An active presence in the technology community.
• Experience with ways to monitor code health, infrastructure health and application performance.
• Experience in e-commerce, affiliate platforms or consumer media.
• Experience on Kanban or Scrum teams and with their project management tools.
• Experience interviewing candidates and in talent acquisition.
• Experience with Agile methods such as Scrum or Kanban, and a commitment to continuous deployment and incremental delivery of business value.
• Good systems engineering skills, including database design, application architecture, operating systems and networking, alongside application development.
• Communication skills that help ensure the product meets requirements and succeeds.
• Functional-style or non-procedural programming counts as a plus.
• 2 years of object-oriented JavaScript work would be a plus.

Conditions

This role is for an existing open position.

The hiring salary range is $138,000.00 to $179,400.00 per year.

Actual pay varies by location, external market data, internal equity, skill set, experience, training, education and/or performance.
