Description

The company is a large life sciences and lab products organisation, and this role is for an internal web application used by business teams.

The work is on-site at the office, on a standard Monday to Friday schedule.

The application is similar in architecture and complexity to the company's existing internal tools, and you will help define its requirements with business stakeholders and deliver it in stages.

Responsibilities

  • Turn business requirements into a maintainable, user-friendly web application, covering frontend work, backend API integration, data handling, testing and deployment support.
  • Build the interactive user interface for business users, including multiple modules organised around business processes.
  • Build dynamic tables and matrices for structured business data, with filtering and selection across several criteria.
  • Let users view and compare different versions or scenarios of data, and edit selected data directly in the application.
  • Build forms and dialogs for creating and updating records, plus user access controls, role-based features and administrative functions.
  • Integrate with backend APIs and enterprise data sources, and handle validation, errors, loading states and user feedback.
  • Build responsive, reusable UI components.
  • Work with business stakeholders to clarify and challenge requirements, then propose a suitable technical design.
  • Develop backend APIs or integrate existing ones, and implement data retrieval and update workflows.
  • Write clean, documented, testable code, run unit and integration tests, and support business and UAT testing.
  • Fix defects found during testing, support deployment to production, and write technical documentation and hand over knowledge.
  • Keep source code in the organisation's Git repository, and deliver the technical design, deployment and configuration documentation, and automated tests where appropriate.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of React development experience.
  • Strong TypeScript and JavaScript skills.
  • Experience building reusable React components and complex tables, forms, filters, dialogs and data-driven interfaces.
  • Experience consuming REST APIs and managing both client state and server state in React.
  • Knowledge of UI component libraries such as Material UI (MUI).
  • Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and building.NET backend applications.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, database integration and data modelling.
  • Experience with SSO authentication and authorisation, integration with enterprise data sources, and error handling, logging and application security.
  • Mid-to-senior level experience, ideally building internal enterprise applications with significant business logic and data manipulation.
  • Comfort working directly with business stakeholders when requirements start out high-level.

Conditions

Standard Monday to Friday schedule, working from the office.

Experience with planning, supply chain, manufacturing, operations or other data-intensive enterprise applications is helpful but not required.

Experience with Python and AI integration, including agents and LLMs, is a plus.

Experience with the organisation's standard backend and cloud stack is preferred.
