Description

The company makes warehouse, distribution, manufacturing and automation software, and this role sits on its Command Center platform. You will help define, deploy and scale AI-driven features for it.

The job goes well beyond backlog work and roadmap upkeep. You will take an AI capability through every stage: finding use cases, building the business case, checking data and model readiness, running pilots, validating with customers, supporting rollout, managing change and selling it.

You will need to earn trust from three groups: AI and software engineers, operations leaders on the warehouse and factory floor, and customers, sales and executives.

Hybrid role. You must live within reach of the Grand Rapids, MI or Atlanta, GA office. U.S. work authorization is required with no current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Find high-value AI opportunities across warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, automation and industrial operations.
  • Turn customer pain points into defined use cases with hypotheses, success criteria, adoption paths and expected ROI.
  • Build and keep a prioritized use-case roadmap ranked by customer value, technical feasibility, data readiness, commercial potential and deployment complexity.
  • Set business requirements, product behavior, acceptance criteria and operational KPIs for judging AI solutions in production.
  • Separate real customer value from AI hype by tracking outcomes such as throughput, labor productivity, order fulfillment, availability, downtime, inventory performance and exception resolution.
  • Work closely with AI engineers and scientists, software architects, UX designers and platform teams to make product decisions and set engineering priorities.
  • Give technical teams the operating context they need so models, agents, analytics and interfaces solve real problems, not demos.
  • Review recommendations, agent behavior and analytics workflows for clarity, usability and operational value.
  • Align AI work with Command Center strategy: predictive visibility, operational recommendations, autonomous monitoring, root-cause analysis, optimization and decision support.
  • Agree with engineering leadership on release plans, pilot readiness criteria, deployment limits and support expectations.
  • Act as product lead on customer AI projects from discovery through pilot and full rollout.
  • Run customer workshops on goals, constraints, data availability, appetite for automation, decision rights and success measures.
  • Explain the AI process to skeptical customers: what it can and cannot do, how recommendations are produced, how to review results and where humans stay in control.
  • Review AI outputs with customers, operations teams and internal stakeholders to sharpen use cases, build trust and find product improvements.
  • Give implementation teams repeatable playbooks, pilot plans, validation checklists and adoption guidance.
  • Define frameworks to measure model quality, recommendation usefulness, business impact, user adoption and customer confidence.
  • Build feedback loops from customer sites into product, AI engineering, data engineering and UX.
  • Help shape responsible AI practice for industrial use: explainability, transparency, escalation, human review, auditability and limits on automation.
  • Monitor live AI capabilities and find ways to improve accuracy, usability, operational fit and customer value.
  • Position AI as decision support that strengthens customer operations, not as an opaque black box.
  • Support sales, solution consulting and commercial teams with customer narratives, demos, pilot proposals, business cases, proof points and value assessments.
  • Write messaging that explains AI in operational terms for executives, site leaders, IT leaders and frontline staff.
  • Work on packaging, pricing, deployment models and post-sale adoption for Command Center AI.
  • Turn early deployments into referenceable customer stories, reusable use-case patterns and lessons learned.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in product management, solution consulting, industrial software, operational excellence, automation, supply chain technology or a closely related role.
  • 3+ years directly managing software products that involve AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, optimization or generative AI.
  • Experience delivering technology into industrial sites such as warehouses, distribution centers, plants, material handling operations or automated facilities.
  • Solid working knowledge of operational KPIs including throughput, productivity, order fulfillment, downtime, availability, labor utilization, equipment performance, inventory accuracy and exception management.
  • Ability to shape vague business problems into structured use cases, product requirements, workflows, acceptance criteria and measurable results.
  • Strong customer communication skills, with the ability to explain technical ideas to non-technical people and earn the trust of skeptical buyers.
  • Proven record of leading cross-functional work across product, engineering, data science, implementation, sales and customer teams.
  • Preferred: experience with WMS, WES, WCS, MES, industrial automation platforms, digital twins, industrial IoT, telemetry or operational analytics platforms.
  • Preferred: familiarity with LLMs, AI agents, ML models, MLOps, data pipelines, forecasting, anomaly detection, root-cause analysis, causal AI or simulation.
  • Preferred: experience running pilots, proof-of-value programs, customer deployments or post-sale adoption for enterprise or industrial software.
  • Preferred: ability to assess data readiness and spot practical limits on data quality, integration, latency, context, ownership and operational interpretation.
  • Preferred: MBA, engineering, supply chain or analytics degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Technically credible with AI engineers and architects, without needing to build the models yourself.
  • Operationally credible with warehouse, manufacturing, maintenance, IT and automation leaders.
  • Commercially credible with customers, sales teams and executives.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to turn early AI ideas into repeatable, deployable product capabilities.
  • Able to weigh innovation against customer trust, operational risk, explainability and adoption readiness.
  • Focused on measurable business outcomes rather than AI terminology, demos or technology for its own sake.
