Senior Software Engineer - Warehouse Automation

Description

The company builds automation and supply chain software for material handling, and this role leads software design, development and rollout for those systems.

The base pay range is estimated at $113,625 to $174,225 at the time of posting. Final pay depends on factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, build and release of software for material handling systems.
• Design scalable, high-performance software that connects with warehouse control systems (WCS), warehouse integration systems (WIS) and warehouse management systems (WMS).
• Work with product managers, engineers and stakeholders to set technical requirements and software roadmaps.
• Guide and mentor mid-level and junior engineers.
• Run code reviews, enforce best practices and keep software quality high.
• Troubleshoot and improve applications for reliability, performance and scalability.
• Write thorough documentation, including architecture diagrams, user guides and technical specifications.
• Track new technologies and industry trends and apply them to automation and material handling software.

Requirements

• A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong skills in C, C++ and JavaScript on Linux (RHEL) servers.
• Deep knowledge of software architecture, design patterns and best practices.
• Experience with Agile and Scrum.
• Proficiency with Git.
• Solid background in database design and management with Oracle or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Clear verbal and written communication, and the ability to work well across teams.
• Preferred: experience in industrial automation, supply chain or material handling.
• Preferred: hands-on work with warehouse software (WMS, WIS or WCS) and real-time system integration.
• Preferred: frontend experience with frameworks such as QT or Angular.
• Preferred: a good grasp of cybersecurity practices in software development.
• Preferred: a track record of leading technical projects from concept to deployment.
• Desired strengths: technical leadership while staying hands-on, strategic thinking that ties technical choices to business goals, the ability to manage several high-impact projects and deliver on time, strong interpersonal skills across departments and with external stakeholders, openness to new technologies, and an understanding of how software affects operations and end users.

Conditions
