Description

You will act as the hands-on product owner for a bank-backed offering for middle-market clients that combines invoice workflow, supplier onboarding, payment execution across ACH, wire, check, virtual card, RTP and FedNow, ERP connectivity, and reconciliation into one experience.

You report to the Head of Faster and Unified Payables in an individual contributor role focused on turning strategy into a product that is built, shipped and sold.

The product is at build stage. The goal is to compete with leading accounts payable and bill pay platforms, so you will need to move quickly and base decisions on data.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product requirements, backlog priorities and release plan for the minimum viable offering and later releases, in line with the portfolio vision set by the Head of Emerging and Unified Payables.
  • Map the full client journey, from invoice intake and approvals through supplier onboarding and validation, payment execution and routing, remittance delivery, and ERP posting and reconciliation.
  • Convert client and business needs into epics, features, user stories and acceptance criteria, and work with Agile delivery teams on refinement, planning, testing and launch.
  • Set OKRs and success measures, such as client wins, adoption, paper-to-electronic conversion, straight-through processing and revenue per client, and report results against them.
  • Lead interviews, surveys and voice-of-client sessions with middle-market accounts payable, treasury and finance leaders, and turn the findings into ranked requirements.
  • Monitor competitors, including bank peers, AP automation providers and spend-management fintechs, and advise where to match, differentiate or partner.
  • Create personas, journey maps and prototypes, including AI-assisted ones, to test ideas with clients and stakeholders before money is committed.
  • Draft packaging, bundling and pricing proposals with Pricing and Finance and move them through product governance.
  • Build sales enablement materials, including positioning, demo flows, playbooks, FAQs and training for relationship managers and treasury management consultants. Support client campaigns and cross-sell between the TPS and CPS client bases.
  • Act as the product expert for RFPs, client meetings, implementations and escalations.
  • Track pipeline, wins and adoption, and use those results to adjust the roadmap and go-to-market approach.
  • Work with Technology and Architecture on ERP and accounting integrations, APIs and payment orchestration across existing TPS and CPS capabilities.
  • Support build, buy and partner decisions, including fintech and vendor reviews and business case inputs.
  • Help merge overlapping products and capabilities into one offering with a single client experience.
  • Make sure the product meets federal and state regulations, payment network and Nacha rules, and bank policy. Coordinate legal review of all client-facing materials and documentation.
  • Design fraud prevention, supplier bank-account validation and auditability into the product.
  • Manage product risk and third-party vendor oversight through the bank's risk management processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically eight or more years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred: Proven product management experience in accounts payable automation, bill pay, integrated payables, commercial card, treasury management or B2B payments, at a financial institution, fintech or payments software provider.
  • Preferred: Deep knowledge of procure-to-pay and accounts payable workflows, including invoice capture, approvals, supplier onboarding and vendor management, payment execution and reconciliation.
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of payment rails (ACH, wire, check, virtual card, RTP and FedNow) and of ERP and accounting system integration and APIs.
  • Preferred: Strong product management, design and development skills, including clear requirements and user stories and experience with Lean or Agile delivery teams.
  • Preferred: Considerable knowledge of product or program development, pricing, implementation and strategic analysis.
  • Preferred: Strong financial and competitive analysis and computer skills, including business case development and product profitability analysis.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated marketing and market research skills, including client research and data-driven decisions.
  • Preferred: Technical marketing skills and experience building sales enablement, demos and go-to-market materials.
  • Preferred: Experience applying AI and automation to accounts payable work, such as invoice capture, exception handling and payment optimization, or using AI tools to speed up discovery and prototyping.
  • Preferred: Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Preferred: Proven leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence without direct authority across a matrixed organization.
