Software Engineering Intern

Description

You will join a software team that supports certification of software used in aerospace and defense. You get hands-on time with production software and learn the DO-178C standard's development and certification methods.

The role is an internship on smaller development and certification tasks. You will work next to experienced engineers on requirements, design, code changes, reviews, and fixes.

The company is international and has offices in the Ottawa area.

Responsibilities

• Help carry out software development and certification work that follows DO-178C processes.
• Take part in writing requirements, designing software, changing code, and running technical reviews.
• Handle small pull requests and bug fixes, with help from senior team members.
• Help keep requirements, design, and source code linked to each other for certification.
• Join independent reviews of engineering work and documents.
• Work with teammates across the full software development and certification lifecycle.
• Learn the structured practices needed for safety-critical software.
• Show curiosity, eagerness to learn, and real involvement with the engineering team.

Requirements

• You are currently enrolled in a degree in software engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• You have studied or worked with C or C++, through school, personal projects, or a job.
• Preferred: previous internship or other relevant hands-on experience.
• You are interested in software development, software quality, and structured engineering processes.
• You are willing and able to learn technical concepts and work in a demanding development environment.

Conditions

Pay is $4,000 to $5,000 CAD per month. The exact figure depends on interviews and a review of your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as well as pay equity with current team members.

You work on-site in the Ottawa area three days per week.
