Senior System Engineer - Core Kernel

Description

The company develops the VxWorks real-time operating system for mission-critical intelligent systems.

This senior role centres on low-level operating system technology and complex problems in embedded and real-time software.

You will work alongside experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to implement, test, debug and integrate core OS features, while helping to improve software quality and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Help build core operating system features and kernel components for the VxWorks embedded RTOS.
• Write, test and validate high-quality code in an Agile team that follows a CI/CD model.
• Track down and fix difficult issues surfaced by product verification and testing.
• Write and maintain technical documentation for OS functionality.
• Review colleagues' code and help raise software quality and engineering practice.
• Work with other teams on hardware and software integration.
• Contribute to low-level platform work, including device drivers, BSP board bring-up and architecture-specific code.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in OS kernel-level software development.
• A solid grasp of operating system concepts and hands-on work with core OS or kernel functionality.
• Strong experience with RTOS and embedded software development.
• Strong C programming skills and hands-on embedded systems development.
• Experience with low-level device drivers and BSP board bring-up.
• Clear written and verbal communication, a self-driven approach, and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Assembly, C++, Python or other development languages are a plus, but optional.

Conditions

Pay range is $130,000 to $160,000 USD, plus an annual incentive plan bonus.

Pay is set through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, abilities and internal equity.
