Lead Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the team's deliverables and work with the Scrum Master to decide the best way forward.
• Take part in every stage of the software lifecycle, from requirements and design to build, testing and release.
• Work with product teams, front-end engineers and QA to ship high-quality solutions.
• Mentor junior developers and help the team grow its skills.
• Guide the team through technical and delivery challenges so that solutions meet customer needs.

Requirements

• Work experience as a software developer with a strong focus on either backend Java (Spring Boot, Maven) or frontend development (React, npm).
• A proven record of designing, building and deploying scalable backend systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, containers, deployment tools and cloud platforms such as Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker and AWS.
• Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills, ideally built in an agile setting.

Conditions

UK citizenship is required for this role.

You must be a British National to hold this clearance type.

You must currently hold the highest level of UK Government security clearance.

Travel is about 10% of the time.
