Description

The company builds software that helps organizations make data-driven decisions and run operations. Its platforms get the right data to the people who need it, and partners use them for work such as developing lifesaving drugs, predicting supply chain disruptions and locating missing children.

This role sits in the Defense Applied AI product team, which builds AI tools for military personnel doing mission-critical work. Product development is organized into small software engineering teams, each owning one part of a product.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full agent experience across our products, from start to finish, and push it to deliver real value for users at a high quality bar.
  • Your work changes from day to day. One day you might refine a workflow's interface with users; the next, you might tune performance for lower latency or more accurate results.
  • Design and build AI agents that help defense and intelligence users look into complex questions, analyze operational data, draft plans and produce usable output.
  • Improve agent quality through data-driven evaluations covering memory, tools and skills, context handling, fine-tuning and more.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to refine user workflows so experiences connect smoothly across products.
  • Build interfaces where users can direct agents, track their progress, check supporting evidence, review proposed actions and revise results.
  • Take features from early experiments to production, turning specific mission needs into reliable, reusable capabilities with users, designers and engineers.
  • Improve speed and scale through performance analysis on large, complex datasets.

Requirements

  • Coding experience in languages such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript or similar.
  • Strong software engineering skills and a record of shipping production applications.
  • Strong React and TypeScript skills.
  • A degree in computer science, mathematics, software engineering, physics or a similar field.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to iterate fast with teammates, act on feedback and keep quality high.
  • An active US security clearance, or eligibility plus willingness to obtain one.
  • We value strong product sense and a good eye for the details that make complex software feel intuitive and useful.
  • We value the ability to work with engineers, users and non-technical colleagues.
  • We value hands-on experience building LLM applications, such as tool design, context management, agent workflows or evaluation.
  • We value a willingness to learn and make calls on your own, asking good questions, iterating directly with users and owning core results.
  • We value curiosity about new AI capabilities and good judgment about where they solve real user problems.

Conditions

The estimated salary range is $145,000 - $200,000 per year.

Total compensation may also include Restricted Stock Units, a sign-on bonus and other future incentives, and will depend on each person's qualifications, experience, skills and other factors. The range excludes any sign-on bonus, the value of benefits and the potential future value of long-term incentives.

Many teams offer hybrid schedules with one or two days a week from home, and the company encourages office time for connection and innovation. A few roles may be remote on an exceptional basis, and those require working from the state where you are employed. Onsite roles require working from an office.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental and vision insurance, plus voluntary life insurance, for you and eligible dependents.
  • Basic life, AD&D and disability insurance, covered automatically.
  • Commuter benefits and relocation assistance.
  • Paid time off you take as you need, not accrued.
  • 2 weeks paid time off at year end, subject to team and business needs.
  • 10 paid holidays each calendar year.
  • Leave of absence for military service and medical events.
  • Paid leave for new parents and subsidized back-up care for all parents.
  • Fertility and family building support, including adoption, surrogacy and preservation.
  • A stipend for expenses that come with a new child.
  • 401k plan.
