Senior Staff Field Applications Engineer - Digital

Description

This is a field applications role on the digital side, covering microcontrollers (MCUs) and SoCs. You will support the company's customers with application engineering and help shape the next generation of automotive products, working alongside customer engineering teams and the company's application engineering and marketing staff.

The team sells into automotive customers, with most of the focus on OEMs.

Responsibilities

• Lead design-in work across the full product line for automotive uses such as in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), ADAS, electrified vehicles (xEV) and vehicle control, working with automotive OEMs.
• Define new products together with customers and with the internal technical marketing and applications teams.
• Serve as the technical contact for customers across all automotive applications, with the main focus on OEMs.
• Work out customer system requirements and market trends, then build system value propositions with internal product marketers, application engineers and system architects.
• Learn how different product architectures and partner ecosystems fit together, so you can advise customers toward an optimal system design.
• Manage projects with sales and marketing to hit design-in targets across the automotive product portfolio.
• Build and keep strong working relationships with customer engineering departments, mainly at OEMs.
• Connect with global cross-functional teams, grow your internal network and share your experience to support business growth worldwide.
• Run technical discussions with system architects and application engineering experts to set application roadmaps and product technical requirements.
• Work with internal application engineers and product marketers, and with local and global partners, to produce documentation such as guides, application notes and whitepapers, and to build system demonstrators that combine software and hardware.
• Carry out lab measurements for live customer projects.
• Present the company's technologies, products and applications at technical seminars.

Requirements

• A degree in electrical or electronic engineering or a closely related field.
• At least 8 years of related work experience, including 3+ years in automotive applications.
• Experience as a field or application engineer for microcontrollers and SoCs is preferred.
• Understand automotive system technical requirements and propose optimized products and solutions.
• Deep knowledge of semiconductors, including SoC, MCU, analog and power products.
• Experience with operating systems and frameworks such as Linux, QNX, AUTOSAR and RTOS.
• Skilled at multi-threaded programming and building middleware across different operating systems, with a strong grasp of IPC and OS concepts.
• Working knowledge of automotive functional safety and cybersecurity concepts.
• Proficient in power and thermal management at the system level.
• Experience designing vehicle architectures and networks.
• Hands-on skills in system bring-up, testing and debugging.
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and other standard lab equipment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
