Senior Software Engineer, Fullstack (Repayments UX)

The repayment UX engineering team is expanding and hiring a senior full-stack software engineer. The team is based entirely in Europe, works in one time zone, and runs with a Silicon Valley style of working.

The team builds and owns the user journeys people use to repay loans, which total over $40B a year and reach more than 20 million people.

The work is agile and moves quickly, and the team measures how it changes user behavior. The role suits people who are curious, take ownership, and like to build. You will know your objectives, have what you need to reach them, and choose how to get there. You will learn from experienced teammates while working on problems at scale.

Responsibilities

• You will own and deliver the team's quarterly goals, guide engineers through unclear, open-ended problems, and make sure everyone gets support through delivery.
• You will work with product management, design and analytics on ideas, explain technical constraints, and help make decisions that weigh risks and trade-offs.
• You will spot problems in projects, processes, technology or the business, make the case for fixing them, and lead the fix.
• You will create and watch metrics for the team's systems, escalate issues when needed, and take part in keep-the-lights-on work and on-call.
• You will raise quality and ownership on the team by setting or improving code review and design standards, and by promoting them beyond the team through writing and tech talks.
• You will help grow people on the team through feedback and guidance, and by setting an example.

Requirements

• You have 4+ years of building and designing mobile apps, ideally with declarative UI frameworks such as React Native.
• You have shipped web apps built with declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue.
• You have designed, built and launched backend systems and are proficient in Python or Kotlin.
• You can write a technical plan for a major feature or component that is simple, elegant and easy to extend, and you write code others can easily read and reuse.
• You can make large changes to a big codebase safely, using tools and practices you have built.
• You actively seek feedback from your team, your manager and your stakeholders to grow.
• You communicate clearly in speech and writing so you can work well with the global engineering team.
• Bonus: you have worked on mobile app architecture and development, preferably with React Native.

The company is remote-first. Most roles can be done from almost anywhere in the country of employment, though some may occasionally need in-person work at an office and a few are office-based.

• Base pay is 308,000 zł to 428,000 zł. New hires usually start near the bottom of the range, and placement depends on location, experience and job-related skills.
• You are also eligible each year for equity from the parent company, awarded in US dollars at equity grade 4. New hire equity is $32,000 to $48,000, the annual refresh is $10,000, and reward equity ranges from $0 to $150,000.
