Senior Software Engineer, Front End - NY

You would join the Frontend Engineering team, which builds frontend web apps for internal and public use, along with the products that power the company's offerings.

Responsibilities

• Gather requirements for frontend web apps used internally and by the public.
• Work with your team lead to create clean, effective user experiences that match the brand.
• Implement designs with a high level of fidelity.
• Research design patterns and propose technical solutions to common web UI and UX problems.
• Code, test and deploy modern web apps.
• Build customer-facing features with performance and security in mind.
• Help hire and grow the team.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of frontend development experience.
• Deep knowledge of JS, HTML and CSS, plus at least one framework such as React or Vue.
• Working knowledge of at least one server-side language, such as Ruby, Python or Golang.
• Experience building web applications and getting up to speed on an existing product quickly.
• Ability to build reliable, modular systems that many people can work on at the same time.
• A strong sense of design, and the persistence to refine the user experience until it is right.
• Preferred: prior experience with JavaScript or TypeScript, the main languages you will use.
• Good judgment, including analyzing problems, weighing risks and owning outcomes.
• A can-do approach that makes the most of available resources, even under constraints.
• Strong teamwork and communication, including documentation, listening, and mentoring others.
• A commitment to learning and applying best practices to keep improving.
• Alignment with the company's COGIS values: camaraderie, openness, grit, integrity and simplicity.
• Tools used: JS, TS, Vue 3, Vite, PostCSS, Playwright, Node, Fastify, Golang, MySQL, AWS and Git.

Conditions

This is a hybrid role based in the New York City office.

The base pay range for this role in the New York City office is targeted at $188,000 to $242,000 per year.

Actual pay depends on factors such as skill set, relevant experience and work location. Ranges for other locations may differ based on local labor costs.
