Senior Product Manager - Synthetic Data

Description

The company is building its next-generation autonomy and uses synthetic data to train it. This Staff Product Manager role sets the strategy and roadmap for making that data more trusted.

You will speed up how quickly synthetic data reaches the autonomy development and validation teams, and rethink how it is produced and used.

You will work across product, program, design, and engineering teams, and lead alignment among simulation, ML infrastructure, and autonomy development.

The work calls for sound technical judgment, principled decisions, and comfort with hard tradeoffs and unclear paths, reasoning from first principles and at fleet-wide scale.

The team values accountability and expects leaders to influence peers, stakeholders, and executives with data and clear reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Own the long-term product vision for synthetic data and set its direction across the company.
• Grow synthetic data production in both quality and volume so it becomes a core data source in the training workflow.
• Define and carry out the strategy and roadmap that raise trust in synthetic data.
• Lead cross-functional work that aligns simulation, ML infrastructure, and autonomy development on one roadmap.
• Set quality frameworks and clear criteria for judging whether synthetic data is good enough.
• Define and track KPIs that show how synthetic data affects model performance and program outcomes.
• Explain highly technical material as a clear story for stakeholders across the company.
• Build a data-driven culture by setting and monitoring the metrics that show whether synthetic data is working.

Requirements

• 5+ years of product management experience.
• A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
• Solid working knowledge of current simulation platforms, ML orchestration infrastructure, and validation workflows.
• Comfort moving projects forward when the path is unclear.
• A strong sense of accountability and ownership.
• A proven record of weighing user needs, technical limits, and business goals against each other.
• Strong writing that joins vision, strategy, and technical detail into one coherent narrative.
• Preferred: an MBA or a master's degree in a technical or engineering field.
• Preferred: experience with autonomous vehicles, ML infrastructure, or large-scale simulation or testing.
• Preferred: exposure to synthetic data generation, simulation, or domain adaptation for perception or behavior models.
• Preferred: a history of earning trust from staff and principal engineers through open roadmaps and candid communication.

Conditions

Hybrid: you are expected to work from the Warren, MI or Sunnyvale, CA office at least three days per week.

The base salary range is $106,600 to $192,700, and the offer within that range depends on factors relevant to the position.
