Description

The role sets the requirements and metrics used to validate perception software for autonomous vehicles, aiming for safe and comfortable operation.

Your analysis of perception systems will shape decisions on software development and release, and the team works across groups to plan validation for new launches.

Responsibilities

  • Set the requirements and metrics for checking perception software that enables safe and comfortable autonomous vehicle operation.
  • Lead the analysis and characterization of perception systems, with findings that guide software development and launch decisions.
  • Prototype and develop simulation-based and road-based testing strategies that keep pace with continuous, scaled software releases.
  • Combine systems engineering and data analysis to support design validation, risk analysis, and prioritization decisions.
  • Plan roadmaps for stable requirements verification and validation, and for software solutions to hard problems, across multiple product lifecycles.
  • Mentor team members and work across teams to define perception validation strategies for new launches.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field of study.
  • 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Perception Algorithm Developer, or in a related role.
  • 5 years of experience in systems engineering for robotics, systems analysis, data analysis, and statistical analysis.
  • 3 years of experience using SQL, Python, and C++ on large data sets.
  • 3 years of experience evaluating machine-learned systems and setting acceptance criteria for perception systems and state estimators.
  • 3 years of experience with detection and classification metrics, including precision, recall, and footprint overlap.
  • 3 years of experience with vehicle dynamics and deriving requirements from physics.

Conditions

The expected base compensation is $189530 per year, and the actual amount within that range varies with job-related factors.

An incentive pay program pays bonuses based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.

The role is hybrid: 3 days in the office and 2 days remote, and you must be able to report to the local office.
