Senior Product Engineer

Description

The company builds a human data platform that connects researchers and companies with a global pool of participants for collecting ethically sourced human behavioral data and feedback, used to develop AI systems.

The team is small and cross-functional, and the product is focused on research.

Responsibilities

• Build and support software for customers as part of a stream-aligned team of an engineering manager, a product manager, a designer, up to 4-5 other engineers and a tech lead.
• Own your code from commit to production, including monitoring and operating it with tools such as Datadog.
• Plan and deliver work in agile cycles with a product mindset, working closely with customers and teams outside product engineering to understand their needs.
• Improve observability and keep systems stable.
• Challenge existing approaches and check that what you build delivers value and impact for users.
• Help uphold the team's principles, grow through community involvement and improve engineering culture.
• Work across AWS, GCP and Azure.
• Bring a product builder mindset, a broad practical knowledge of software development and usually a deeper specialism in front end or back end, supporting the team and helping shape the product's direction.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of modern web applications.
• Experience building TypeScript or JavaScript applications and using NoSQL databases.
• Experience using Python.
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture.
• Experience with AWS (serverless) and/or GCP.
• Commitment to building quality into code through test automation.
• Experience supporting production applications, with proven use of observability practices such as RUM and tracing in a full stack environment.
• Experience working in a collaborative setting with strong engineering practices, and a clear sense of what good engineering looks like.
• Care about the product lifecycle and focus on customer value.
• Use data and continuous, iterative improvement to guide decisions, and value feedback.
• Enthusiasm for software development and a drive to keep learning and improving.
• Self-motivated and energetic, comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a bias for action.
