Description

The role is based in the United Kingdom and requires an in-person interview.

The company builds identity security software: a cloud platform that secures both employee identities and identities used by AI agents and other non-human systems, with a focus on removing blind spots.

The platform applies zero standing privilege and contextual risk scoring, and is used by some of the largest and most complex organisations in the world for identity security at scale.

The role is a Staff Software Engineer position. You will design and build high-performance cloud services that drive decisions in the identity platform, using Golang and Angular for full-stack work, synchronous and event-driven microservices, and AI-assisted and agentic development.

You will work with product managers, UX designers, architects and engineers across the globe to turn identity governance concepts into fast, clean and secure systems. You will also own technical quality through architecture reviews, performance profiling and mentoring developers.

You will join the UK Platform Engineering team, which builds and runs core services for the company. The team has backend and frontend engineers moving toward full-stack work to support AI and identity projects. The team works closely day to day and meets in person once per quarter for offsites.

Roadmap: in your first 30 days, complete onboarding, environment setup and security training, shadow the team on the Policy Engine, and ship a first bug fix or small feature. By 60 days, help define specifications and estimates, build and deploy end-to-end real-time and batch policy evaluation features, and review code and testing strategies. By 6 months, lead complex features across the Policy Engine and Agentic Fabric and set profiling benchmarks for latency, throughput and reliability. By 1 year, act as subject matter expert for Policy Engine and distributed architecture, mentor engineers and drive cross-team architecture work as the platform grows.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and deploy high-performance cloud services and resilient full-stack solutions in Golang and Angular.
  • Build synchronous and event-driven microservices.
  • Adopt AI-assisted and agentic development workflows.
  • Translate identity governance requirements into production systems with product managers, UX designers and architects.
  • Run architecture reviews, system profiling and developer mentoring to keep code quality high.
  • Lead the design and delivery of complex Policy Engine and Agentic Fabric features, then mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Take part in the 24x7 on-call rotation, about 1 week in 20, and help improve operations.

Requirements

  • A degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • A proven track record designing and building backend microservices, ideally in Golang.
  • Strong experience building modern web frontends, ideally in Angular.
  • Solid skills in automated testing and debugging, including unit and integration tests and performance profiling tools.
  • Experience designing and maintaining scalable microservices in a distributed SaaS cloud environment.
  • Strong collaboration, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Preferred: Experience with Golang, Angular, Java, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform and CloudBees or Jenkins.
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience with cloud databases such as Amazon DynamoDB, Aurora or Snowflake.
  • Preferred: Experience building data streaming and event-driven architectures with Apache Kafka or Apache Flink.
  • Preferred: Experience with, or a strong interest in, AI-assisted software development and agentic engineering.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Cursor, Claude Code, Python AI and ML libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas and numpy, PyTorch, and LLMs and foundation models on Bedrock, Vertex AI or similar.
  • Expected: Use AI development tools as a core part of your daily work. Use them to speed up delivery, widen your scope and raise quality, while reviewing and validating everything you ship.

Conditions

Based in the United Kingdom, with an in-person interview required.

You must hold permanent UK residency, shown by a British passport, Settled Status or Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).

Work with the team day to day and attend in-person offsites once per quarter.

Benefits vary by country of work.
