Senior Data Engineer

Description

The product protects web applications from automated attacks.

You will be a core member of a small, highly autonomous team that takes initiative. The team works on understanding the core product, including legacy code and several services, spotting problems, inefficiencies, risks, technical gaps and improvement areas, and then building the fixes.

You will also negotiate with product engineering teams to secure their support for changes, and plan both quick wins and a longer-term improvement strategy.

The company provides cybersecurity solutions for individuals, organizations and communities across several sectors, with a focus on vulnerabilities and protection against a wide range of digital risks.

Responsibilities

• Keep existing data processes running well, improving their reliability, performance and ability to scale.
• Learn thoroughly what existing tables, data flows and jobs contain, who uses them, what can be made better, and where new ones are needed.
• Lead reliability and performance gains across every data workflow.
• Own and carry out efforts to modernize data processes.
• Work with teams across functions to keep architecture consistent and encourage good practices.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of overall experience in data engineering.
• Expert SQL skills, including tuning complex queries for low latency and high performance.
• Working knowledge of DBT for transforming and modeling data.
• Solid grounding in data engineering principles and databases, including DDL, DML and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake and Elastic.
• Deep experience building, scaling and managing large data pipelines.
• You can work independently, take ownership and see initiatives through to completion.
• Nice to have: practical experience with Airflow for workflow orchestration.
