Senior Data Engineer (m/f/d)

Description

The company is Europe's No. 1 e-pharmacy, and the team works on digital healthcare.

The role supports Data & AI initiatives by building the pipelines and architectures that Data & AI models use to produce insights.

The stack includes Azure Fabric, Azure Databricks, PySpark, Apache Spark, Python, SQL, Azure Data Platform, DBT, Snowflake, Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable data pipelines that feed data products across several business domains.
• Help move existing platforms to Azure through cloud data migration projects.
• Transform and tune large datasets so reporting, analytics and business decisions rest on reliable data.
• Work closely with data analysts, ML engineers, DevOps engineers, backend developers, product managers and business stakeholders to deliver end-to-end data solutions.
• Raise code quality by encouraging clean, maintainable code, automation and ongoing improvement of the data platform.

Requirements

• Bring 5+ years in data engineering, including data platforms, data modeling and production-grade pipelines.
• Write strong Python and SQL, and turn business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Have built distributed data processing systems, for example on Databricks, and worked with large datasets, data lakes, data warehouses and ETL/ELT architectures on Azure (preferred), AWS or GCP.
• Understand scalable system design, data engineering best practices and Lakehouse technologies such as Apache Delta, Iceberg and Hudi.
• Have worked with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server or Oracle, built transformation models in DBT, and understand DevOps principles and automated CI/CD deployment.
• Combine problem-solving skill, ownership and a consultative approach, and work independently in complex, fast-moving settings.

Conditions

This is a remote position based in Germany.

Occasional on-site collaboration at the Berlin or Cologne offices may be required, depending on business and team needs.
