Platform Engineer 2 (m/f/d)

Description

You will join the platform team in the Data & AI department and help build and evolve the company's next-generation AI platform.

The platform foundations let teams develop, deploy, govern, monitor and scale AI systems in a safe and reliable way.

You can take ownership of platform components and improvements, working with Kubernetes, Databricks, cloud-native technologies and current AI platform patterns.

The company runs an e-pharmacy and is Europe's largest in its market.

Responsibilities

• Build, configure and maintain platform infrastructure on Microsoft Azure using Infrastructure as Code, mainly Terraform.
• Help run and improve the Azure Databricks platform, covering configuration, automation, monitoring, access management and troubleshooting.
• Run and improve the Azure Kubernetes platform for the Data & AI department, supporting deployment, management and scaling of services through GitOps and CI/CD.
• Deliver platform changes and new capabilities that fit existing architecture, security requirements and engineering standards.
• Build reusable automation and self-service capabilities so engineering, Data and AI teams can deploy and run their workloads.
• Watch platform health, investigate operational issues and resolve standard support cases on your own, escalating complex ones.
• Work with Platform, Data, AI, MLOps and Security colleagues, and contribute to technical discussions, documentation and platform improvements.
• Take part in architecture and design discussions, add technical input and implement agreed solutions, getting help from senior engineers when needed.
• Keep building your knowledge of cloud-native and Data & AI platform technologies, and look into new tools that could improve the platform.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and a solid grasp of core cloud concepts: compute, networking, storage, identity and security.
• Practical experience with containers and Kubernetes, including how containerized workloads are deployed and run.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, specifically Terraform. Helm experience is an advantage.
• Experience building or maintaining standard deployment pipelines and working with Git-based development and delivery.
• Familiarity with logging, monitoring and troubleshooting in production or platform environments, resolving common issues on your own.
• Experience with at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, Go or Shell, for infrastructure automation and platform tooling.
• Familiarity with Azure Databricks or similar Data & AI platforms, or a strong wish to build hands-on expertise in them.
• Basic understanding of Data, Machine Learning or AI workloads and how infrastructure and platform capabilities support them.
• Able to own your work, plan your tasks independently, report progress and blockers, and ask for input early on unfamiliar or complex topics.
• Able to work with engineers and stakeholders at working level and explain technical topics clearly.
• Curious and motivated to keep improving your skills and to contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing and engineering practices.
• Fluent in English. German language skills are a plus.
