Delivery Manager

Description

This is a senior-level Department Delivery Manager role focused on delivery governance, portfolio health, and consistent project outcomes.

The department is building a mature delivery setup with clear governance, scalable processes, and sustainable portfolio management across complex software projects.

The work covers supporting software development initiatives, improving delivery predictability, handling escalations, and driving improvement across distributed teams.

The role is internal. It centres on delivery quality and organizational development across several projects and accounts.

Responsibilities

• Lead recovery planning for projects that are struggling or underperforming.
• Take ownership of delivery escalations and coordinate resolution across stakeholders.
• Run regular project health reviews and catch delivery risks and issues early.
• Track portfolio performance, delivery quality, customer satisfaction, and core delivery metrics.
• Give leadership clear insight into portfolio health and escalate critical problems promptly.
• Identify portfolio-wide risks and make sure mitigation plans are carried out and followed up.
• Own and keep improving delivery governance across the department.
• Set delivery standards, best practices, and quality frameworks for all projects.
• Coach Project Managers on delivery and governance practices.
• Run knowledge sharing and improvement initiatives across teams.
• Make sure company delivery methods, processes, and standards are applied consistently.
• Advise leadership on delivery risks, priorities, performance, and improvement opportunities.
• Work with Account Managers, Project Managers, Engineering Leaders, Resource Managers, and HR partners to keep projects on track.
• Align business goals, delivery capacity, and resource planning.
• Contribute to organization-wide initiatives that raise delivery maturity and operational effectiveness.

Requirements

• 8+ years in project, program, portfolio, or delivery management within IT.
• Earlier hands-on technical experience as a software engineer or in another technical delivery role.
• Solid grasp of software development processes and the engineering problems they create.
• Track record of overseeing several projects, accounts, or delivery streams at once.
• Experience leading, mentoring, or developing Project Managers, Delivery Managers, or Team Leads.
• Good command of delivery governance, project health, risk management, and quality assurance.
• Proven handling of complex escalations and recovery of challenged projects.
• Experience setting up delivery standards, processes, frameworks, and practices across an organization.
• Strong portfolio skills for spotting trends, risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities across projects.
• Strong stakeholder management and influence at different organizational levels.
• Analytical, problem-solving approach with data-driven decisions.
• Ability to drive organizational change and lead continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, coaching, and leadership skills.
• Experience in cross-functional and matrix organizations.
• Advanced English.
• Plus: experience in large-scale distributed delivery organizations.
• Plus: experience with Agile delivery frameworks and transformation initiatives.
• Plus: certifications such as PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, PRINCE2, SAFe, or similar.
