Description

The company delivers construction, engineering and maintenance for large, complex oil and gas projects across Canada, from concept through completion.

It carries out up to 90% of its work with its own crews, so Field Engineers see the full project lifecycle up close.

Disciplines include piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls, structural steel, concrete, underground utilities, civil works, scaffolding and commissioning and startup support.

Industrial projects range from $50M to $1B+, with room to learn and advance quickly on deep foundations, multi-trade installation, field problem solving and quality and safety work.

The team is built on integrity, teamwork, grit and pride in craftsmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Apply and maintain the company's systems and procedures for the whole project.
  • Handle admin and records: review and distribute documents, write correspondence and meeting minutes, track milestones, and keep files, logs, drawings and specifications current.
  • Take part in site HSE work, including worksite inspections, the observation program and safety meetings.
  • Join quality work: awareness sessions, specification and standard reviews, and inspection of finished work when asked.
  • Run the RFI process: route requests to affected trades and keep the RFI log and redlines.
  • Draft purchase requisitions for approval and help procure materials and equipment.
  • Help scope, plan and build Field Installation Work Packages, clear constraints on time and issue them to crews.
  • Support subcontract management: tendering, technical evaluation, award of work or supply, and checking invoices, progress claims and document queries.
  • Manage change: log contract changes and submit change notices and change pricing to the client for approval within contract deadlines.
  • Help build and update the schedule, track milestones and deliverables, and review progress with the Project Manager or Superintendent.
  • Feed construction progress and data into project controls reporting.
  • Manage contract documents, reviewing, distributing and filing them per the project distribution matrix.
  • Prepare close-out and turnover documents, help demobilize the site and archive records.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in an industrial construction discipline such as oil and gas, power generation, petrochemical or potash.
  • Able to read and understand construction documents.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and scheduling software such as Primavera.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, with confidence dealing with key contacts.
  • Working knowledge of main construction office processes: project setup, subcontract management, change management, RFIs and technical reviews, and project closeout.
  • Able to spot problems, develop solutions and make sound decisions using standard procedures.

  • Willing to contribute actively in team activities and share experience and ideas.
  • Asset: Professional Engineering or Technology designation, or Journeyperson certification.
