Description

The company is an information analytics business serving research, academic and clinical communities with technology and analytics applied to content.

This role sits between the Account Managers and the technical side of sales. You will help grow sales opportunities in a region or market through to close.

You will work out what each client needs and how they measure success, then confirm it with them and show how the company can meet it.

Using deep domain knowledge and strong technical skills, you will explain the value of the company's Academic Information Systems portfolio and its wider Research Intelligence portfolio through demos and presentations, and set testing milestones during pre-sales.

Responsibilities

  • Before a sale, build detailed presentations and technical demos tailored to each audience, based on your needs analysis with the customer, and keep up with new features and roadmaps from Product and Marketing.
  • During a sale, review opportunity and account details in the CRM, prepare with the Account Manager for demos and technical talks, run the demo, and record all project requirements and customer needs in the CRM.
  • After a sale, collect feedback from the customer, Customer Success and the Account Manager on the demo and value story, and work with the Implementation Manager for a smooth handover.
  • Lead the technical side of the sales process, from client discovery and needs analysis to solution design, in step with the Account Managers.
  • Draft and deliver presentations on the target software products, answer technical questions for the Account Manager, and support user group meetings and conferences with Marketing on use cases, value propositions and client endorsements.
  • Understand tender requirements, lead the technical parts of tender responses, and work closely with the tender team on write-ups.
  • Design the solution and overall proposal around client needs and promised functionality, aiming for high satisfaction against the client's own success measures.
  • Take part in product roadmap discussions and work with Sales and Product to shape software solutions that can be built.
  • Hand client needs to the implementation and customer success teams, and support them through implementation and after installation.
  • Act as a trusted partner during pre-sales and handover so clients become referrals and active reference customers, and help find new prospects through your network.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, management information systems or a similar field.
  • At least 5 years of sales experience as a Solution Engineer, Pre-Sales Consultant or in a similar role.
  • Extensive experience selling, servicing and implementing software systems.
  • A proven record of consultative, complex solution selling.
  • Strong presentation and software demonstration skills, with the ability to make ideas clear and easy to use.
  • Strong analytical skills and close attention to detail.
  • The ability to design big-picture software solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong talent for building relationships.
  • Fluent English.
  • SaaS or Software as a Service experience (a plus).
  • Publishing expertise, including experience with publishing systems and workflows (a plus).
  • Experience working in an international matrixed organisation (a plus).
