Description

The role sits in the Engineering for Services category and covers products that have been delivered and are in service.

The company is running a multi-year transformation to become a higher-performing, more competitive, resilient and growing business, and this role supports that work across the full product life cycle, keeping products mature and true to design intent.

Responsibilities

  • Support known and possible safety issues, including SAR and RT matters, and take part in safety boards as set out in the Safety Management Plan.
  • Answer technical questions and help resolve operational problems.
  • Lead investigations into operational issues to establish root cause.
  • Put containment actions in place and recommend corrective actions.
  • Carry out technical surveillance and quality assurance audits to improve products for customers and the business.
  • Write and approve technical content for publications and communications used by the OEM, build, commissioning and maintenance sites, and customers, including setting acceptance limits.
  • Set reliability targets, such as operational disruption metrics, from historical data and track performance against them.
  • Forecast future safety and reliability using failure rates and statistical methods, including numerical risk assessment, parametric distribution and fly-forward analysis.
  • Find cost reductions by reviewing and maintaining life cycle engineering policies and related maintenance planning documents.
  • Manage issues affecting maturity, life cycle cost, reliability and maintainability, and keep design intent in place.
  • Provide life cycle technical data from build through in-service to decommissioning, and model through-life performance, deterioration mechanisms and service attributes to predict time on platform, identify optimisation options and support the Service Operation Validation Strategy.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations and reports for the platform provider, regulators, customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead the integration of health monitoring requirements and define needs for new health monitoring systems or capabilities.
  • Make sure regulatory requirements are met and that the technical and business needs of internal and external stakeholders are addressed.
  • When delegated, act as Technical Authority and give assurance on build, commissioning and maintenance activities.
  • Collect in-service data and drive continuous improvement by identifying best practice and lessons learned, then feeding them into future programmes and product design teams.

Requirements

  • An engineering or numerical degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of how components and systems function, and of numerical methods.
  • Experience with complex, novel and ambiguous tasks.
  • Familiarity with the in-service environment, including regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving problems.
