Description

The company is a media and entertainment business, working across broadband, broadcast, streaming and mobile.

Product Owners set out a clear picture of what is being built and why, so teams focus on the right work to build data products and data assets that back the company's strategy.

You will sit in the Cross Product domain within the EEC directorate and join a squad on the Cross Product Service Value stream, working on Service Checker enhancements.

Day to day, you will work with engineers, analysts, architects and business stakeholders to understand needs, shape requirements and make sure each increment adds real value.

Responsibilities

  • Own a documented vision for each product covering short and long term value and how it supports strategy, and champion it with stakeholders when managing expectations and requirements.
  • Keep the product backlog current and ranked so Data Engineering teams have clear, aligned work ready to pick up, and turn complex or unclear needs into actionable user stories and outcomes that lead to reliable, intuitive data products.
  • Refine needs with stakeholders into user stories, acceptance criteria and outcomes, and play them back to confirm they meet business demands.
  • Check that every increment adds real business worth, weighing near-term needs against long-term strategy.
  • Build strong relationships across the business, reporting progress, risks and trade-offs clearly and confidently.
  • Use feedback, data and insight to improve processes, product performance and team ways of working, and track velocity, throughput and quality to keep refining how the team operates.

Requirements

  • Product management experience, ideally in complex, data-driven organisations, including managing multiple backlogs.
  • Experience setting up product and Agile ways of working, leading Agile ceremonies, and building data as a product.
  • Experience owning and managing several products at once across many stakeholders.
  • Track record in Agile delivery, running quarterly PI planning and sprint planning, refining and ranking backlogs, and iterating on products.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira or another online workflow tool.
  • Ability to explain complex ideas simply to technical and non-technical audiences, and to set out trade-offs and impact clearly.
  • Strong PowerPoint skills for presenting a wider vision and telling the story of your products.
  • Comfortable with data: reading metrics and using insight to inform decisions and check outcomes.
  • Understanding of user needs and behaviour, and experience leading teams to show products in the right forums. Experience with Tableau or another visualisation tool is required.
  • Desirable: a good working knowledge of SQL.
