Description

You will turn audience evidence into decisions that shape the company's news service, across editorial, product, platform and commercial work. You will lead the full audience intelligence process, from trusted measurement and performance analysis to recommendations that drive change. You will bring analytics and insight into one connected function that explains what happened, why, what it means and what to change.

The company is a media and entertainment business that reaches millions of people with entertainment, sports, news and arts.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the audience measurement framework, including definitions, standards and analytical principles, so that broadcast, digital, social, third-party and direct audience data form one consistent performance view.
  • Run recurring performance reporting, diagnostics and deep dives that show where performance shifted, for which audiences, on which platforms and why.
  • Turn analytics, audience behaviour, research and market context into clear implications and practical recommendations, then track whether they are adopted and what results follow.
  • Lead senior performance discussions, explaining complex evidence to editorial and non-technical colleagues and making sure each meeting ends with decisions, owners and next steps.
  • Set priorities for analytics and insight work, cutting duplicated or low-value reporting and directing team capacity to the questions with the greatest decision value.
  • Lead and grow analytics and insight managers and analysts, building a connected, high-performing team that values rigour, curiosity, clear communication and practical impact.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience leading audience data, analytics or insight teams in media or consumer businesses.
  • Deep knowledge of audience analytics, content metrics, consumer behaviour, direct audience relationships and measurement frameworks.
  • A track record of building evidence-led decision-making and turning complex analysis into clear recommendations and organisational action.
  • Strong strategic thinking, governance, prioritisation and resource management, including aligning business needs with enterprise data standards and teams.
  • Ability to run distinct analytics and insight disciplines as one coherent, high-performing function.
  • Excellent senior stakeholder management, communication and facilitation skills, including explaining uncertainty and challenging unsupported assumptions.
  • Desirable: experience across broadcast, digital, social and subscription or membership data.
  • Desirable: understanding of data instrumentation, product analytics and audience lifecycle measurement.
  • Desirable: experience with customer segmentation, retention or churn analysis.
  • Desirable: experience building organisational capability in data and insight.
