Principal Software Engineer

You will work in a multidisciplinary software team on machine control, running on a real-time operating system.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design applications for complex industrial systems.
• Design, develop, test and deliver C/C++ software.
• Work in an agile team alongside mechanical, electrical and software engineers to build fully integrated solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and field engineers to debug and resolve issues.
• Test and debug software on physical machines in the lab.
• Mentor new and junior developers.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of C/C++ experience, including debugging, testing and system profiling.
• Understanding of software architecture and experience building complex, multi-process systems.
• Solid grasp of real-time operating systems and experience meeting real-time constraints.
• Experience with interrupts, inter-process communication and multi-threading.
• Experience with object-oriented design and microservices.
• Experience with socket programming and network communication.
• Experience developing on Linux or QNX.
• Experience with build automation and CMake.
• Experience with git and branching strategies.
• Experience working in agile teams.
• Nice to have: Qt/QML experience.
• Nice to have: experience in computer vision, image processing or object recognition.
• Nice to have: experience integrating AI/ML.
• Nice to have: experience in applied math and computational geometry.
• Nice to have: device driver development experience.
• Nice to have: motion control experience.
• Nice to have: experience developing embedded software on x86 platforms.

Conditions

The estimated annual salary is $133,000 to $222,000. This is a general guide only; the starting salary depends on location, qualifications and prior experience.
