Description

The company is a cloud video platform business offering video security, business intelligence and loss prevention products, and has done so for over 20 years.

Its video management system is built to be easy to use and comprehensive, and is backed by hands-on customer service and support.

Its on-site and cloud products protect schools, hospitals, banks, retail stores and other facilities worldwide, sold through a global network of certified service providers.

The company is a subsidiary of a larger parent organization.

The team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to develop and maintain its server application, which requires a mix of technical depth, organization, interpersonal skill and a willingness to keep learning as technology changes.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain software on your own, including major architecture changes, complex features, performance work and fixes for critical bugs.
  • Lead large projects with little supervision, covering scoping, design, prioritization and coordination to deliver on time at high quality.
  • Work with Product Management, stakeholders and senior engineers to design and ship strong software solutions.
  • Talk with other departments and, when needed, customers to gather key information and handle difficult use cases.
  • Mentor Software Engineers and Software Engineer IIs on coding practices, algorithms and processes when they ask.
  • Lead technical discussions across teams, shaping decisions on tools, frameworks, architecture standards and methods.
  • Keep code quality high through peer reviews, enforce standards and push for solutions that are easy to maintain and scale.
  • Analyze inputs from technical and non-technical sources to build solutions that meet wider organizational needs.
  • Take part in Agile work, finding bottlenecks and improving the workflow.
  • Follow work through to completion, including testing, monitoring and checking deployments.
  • Communicate clearly in code reviews, design docs, email, meetings and Jira, with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Use AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot and LLM assistants to speed up design, coding, review, debugging and documentation, looking for ways to raise output without lowering quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Tech stack: C++, Java, Spring, Git, GitHub, IntelliJ and Copilot.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Expert knowledge of C++ and Java.
  • Solid grasp of object-oriented programming and development practices.
  • Quick at picking up new technologies and practices.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • A commitment to quality and a test-first approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Hands-on experience using AI development tools to meaningfully speed up daily engineering work.
  • Sponsorship of new applicants for employment authorization or any other immigration-related support is not available for this position at this time.
